Chapter 5: The High Witch’s Judgment

The sanctuary trembled as Selene’s sphere of black fire shot across the chamber. Kael leaped forward, raising his silver blade just in time to intercept the attack. The collision exploded into a shower of sparks, forcing everyone backward. Evelyn steadied herself against a stone pillar. Ancient books tumbled from the shelves while glowing crystals flickered overhead. “Enough!” Selene commanded. The chamber fell silent, but the air remained heavy with magic. “You’ve allowed a vampire to deceive you,” Selene said, her silver eyes fixed on Evelyn. “Our kind has fought his people for centuries. They bring nothing but death.” Evelyn met her gaze without flinching. “If Kael wanted me dead, he had countless chances to kill me.” Selene’s expression hardened. “That is exactly why he is dangerous. The cleverest enemies earn your trust before they strike.” Kael stepped between them. “I didn’t come here to fight the witches.” “No,” Selene replied coldly. “You came because the prophecy has chosen you.” She waved her hand, and the ancient scroll floated into the air. Golden letters appeared across its surface. “When the blood moon rises, the Witch of Light and the Vampire of Shadows must unite the Four Relics before the Dark Sovereign awakens.” Evelyn stared at the glowing words. “Four Relics?” she asked. Selene nodded. “The Moonstone Crown, the Crimson Dagger, the Crystal Heart, and the Staff of Eternity. Hidden centuries ago, they are the only artifacts capable of sealing the Dark Sovereign forever.” Kael’s face turned pale. “I thought those relics were only legends.” “They are very real,” Selene replied. “And someone has already begun searching for them.” A deafening roar echoed outside the sanctuary. One of the witches rushed inside, her robes torn and stained with blood. “High Witch!” she cried. “The Shadow Legion has breached the northern barrier. They’re searching for the sanctuary!” Fear spread through the room. Selene quickly turned to Evelyn. “The prophecy can no longer wait.” She placed a glowing silver pendant into Evelyn’s hands. “This belonged to your mother.” Evelyn froze. “My… mother?” “You deserve to know the truth,” Selene whispered. “She died protecting the first relic from the Dark Sovereign.” Tears filled Evelyn’s eyes as she gripped the pendant. Before she could ask another question, the sanctuary walls shook violently. Stone cracked, dust rained from the ceiling, and a thunderous voice echoed through the cavern. “I have found you.” The entrance collapsed as a towering figure cloaked in darkness stepped through the dust, his golden eyes burning like fire. Kael drew his sword. “The Dark Sovereign…” The true war had finally begun.
