Pretending not to have read the very obvious negative meaning in Assistant Luca's words, Massimo Marchetti still felt that he needed to do something to ensure Ariana be made more comfortable after that she has finally managed to get some sleep. He had watched how much the woman loved and dedicated herself to his son and the development of the Marchetti family and it's business empire. She singlehandedly took over the running of the business when his son was only concerned with finding a woman who disappeared on her own wedding day. Massimo Marchetti was not convinced that the woman had gotten kidn*pped but his son was beyond reasoning with when it came to that woman. He was an old man that had travelled the world and understood the depth at which Ariana's love went for Bruni was very deep and intense, it could even rival the love of a soulmate, not forgetting that she was perfect in every single aspect. So despite his wife an daughter's dissatisfaction, he loved Ariana because she was genuine to his son and his family. He just needed a little more time to try an get his son to realize how important his daughter-in-law had become to the Marchetti empire after just six months. “It won’t be good to disturb her sleep right now since she barely gets any good sleep around here, thanks to her busy schedule as Madam Marchetti, Logistics manager at the empire, among many other things. Get me one of the unused duvets from my room.” The Assistant obeyed and signaled a maid to get the duvet. The maid brought it to him an he handed it to Massimo Marchetti who snatched it from his hands urgently while snorting in obvious dissatisfaction at him before covering Ariana. He rubbed her hair tenderly with his left hand while her right hand stroked her on the forehead. “Oh sweet Emilia. Sleep well, my child.” Turning around, Assistant Luca intentionally used his torso to cover the view of the table where the divorce papers sat. Massimo was already feeling very tired from the long walk he just took with his wife and daughter, he decided to grab some rest as well. “Well, I also need to get some sleep now. I’m tired but no one I allowed to disturb the Madam's sleep. Infact, I think it will be best for everyone to have dinner in their rooms.” Gianna Marchetti and Bianca Marchetti's expressions darkened at his words but Assistant Luca quietly signaled them to no say anything then drew their attention to the divorce papers lying quietly on the side table, their mood immediately brightened considerably but they deliberately concealed their glee from Massimo Marchetti. Ariana never fell asleep throughout the whole process. Her heart was too heavy, thinking about how Massimo Marchetti was going to take the news about the divorce. The more she thought about it, the more her mood dampened. The next day when the main door was opened again and Bruni Marchetti walked in, but this time around, he was not alone and the sight that greeted him in the sitting room made his expression darkened. “What are you still doing here?” His gaze was cold, his expression dark as he glared at the unsigned divorce papers still lying neatly in the middle of the center table where he had left it last night, right beside his briefcase and the woman whom was supposed to have signed them lay on the couch with a blanket covering her as though she didn't have a room to sleep in. Ariana regretted laying here on the couch the whole night in a daze instead of accepting reality and getting making herself look presentable. Her face was looking puffy from her lack of sleep, and she had dark circles under her eyes. Her hair was also very messy, in total contrast to the elegantly dressed and sophisticated woman standing confidently beside Massimo Marchetti, her soon to be husband. Ariana simply glanced at them indifferently and looked away without a care but from the moment Ariana's eyes collided with the woman beside Bruni Marchetti, she became very uncomfortable. Bruni Marchetti had explained to Quinn that he had found a replacement bride on the wedding day she had been kidn*pped in order to save the Marchetti family from shame. However, little did Quinn expect the said replacement bride to be none other than Emilia, her former best friend, now turned sworn enemy. Thinking about Emilia made Quinn's expression contort into one filled with hatred. Quinn and Emilia were once very close until Emilia began to outshine Quinn in everything she did and that did not sit well with Quinn. Emilia seemed to excel at everything she did, as though she had some sort of lucky charm. Quinn, on the other hand, was experiencing the exact opposite of everything. Back in Brooklyn where they met while going to school together, Quinn was only good at one thing, and was attracting all sorts of men to her and she ha never said no to any of those men. She never had the will or decency to refuse the advances of those men and kept them all around her. As a result, Emilia had caught her in the act on countless occasions which made Emilia withdraw from her. Eventually, when Emilia had come top of her entire class and department in their final year exams, it was the last straw for Quinn as she couldn’t take the attention that Emilia was getting and that made her angry enough sh decided Emilia had to be eliminated. She tried every means to get rid of Emilia, but all her attempts failed. Now, after six months of being away from this place, she was back to meet the same woman she had failed to kill, who was now her mate’s contract wife. “You told me she had left. What is she still doing here if she was already supposed to be gone?” Quinn was annoyed by Emilia's presence and chose to pretend she did not know her. The fear of her secrets being exposed was slowly suffocating her slowly. Emilia, on the other hand, had no intention of revealing the truth about Quinn's past and supposed k********g. Besides, even if she did, no one in this house would believe her so there was really no need. They could even go as far as mocking her for fabricating lies about Quinn to ruin her reputation so that she could remain married to Mr. Marchetti, so there was no need. Rising to her feet with a calm expression on her face, besides she had already lost the zeal to speak, accepting her loss with pride and dignity. She calmly folded the blanket and placed it beside her on the couch. Picking up the pen placed beside the divorce papers, she crossed out the alimony portion without even bothering to look at what written inside before slowly signing her exquisite signature to the divorce papers. Then she pushed the papers just beside his briefcase and got up while looking at the couple before her calmly. “I would like us to settle everything before tomorrow. So let's meet at the courthouse in thirty minutes to complete the procedures. And don't worry, I'll personally take care of everything else.” she placed her demand with renewed vigor without so much as batting an eyelid towards them. Her appearance wasn’t attractive, but her sudden boldness and calm demeanor caused something strange to hit Bruni Marchetti's heart for the first time since that very afternoon they'd first six months ago. He had spent very little time with this wife of his and during the period agreement because, he had always been on the move to intensify efforts into finding Quinn, thus, he knew very little of her so hearing her bold words and her calmness, he felt very strange. For the first time in six months, He felt as though he didn’t know the woman he had married, as she had changed into somebody else completely within just a few hours of not seeing her. It was inconceivable. “I told you to give me the week. It would take at least that long to legally change the names of the ownership on all the cars and houses, as well as the accounts into your name. I even planned to call in a few favours just to speed up the process so it won't be possible today.”
