Massimo Marchetti's Care.

1380 Words
Bruni Marchetti lost his patience looking at her depressed expression and he lashed out at her with no consideration for her feelings whatsoever. “Look I’m sorry if this came as a shock to you but we had an agreement and I'm only following the right procedures since I feel nothing for you except maybe gratitude for approaching me and proposing the deal but that's all it was and always will be, A DEAL. Not forgetting the fact that Quinn is back and her situation is very delicate so please, quit the uneccesary drama because I don’t have the luxury of time like you do, sitting at home the whole day with servants attending to your every need all day long. I will use some of my connections in the government to speed up the process, so we should be able to formalize the divorce within a week." Ariana understood that trying to explain her importance in the Marchetti estate/empire was useless so she gave up, yet her only concern was his father. The old man had a very weak body constitution after years of endlessly toiling to build the empire and now, it had developed to a severe heart condition. Due to his body growing weaker by the day, he handed over the empire to his son at a very young age and devoted a lot of time to take care of himself and spend as much time with his beloved wife, traveling around the world's scenic locations because he knew his days were no longer many. His wife feared he might die anytime soon and they would miss the chance to be together within the unknown timeline they had so she also, resolutely withdrew from the empire, accompanying him to all the beautiful sites in the world. For this reason, Bruni Marchetti had assumed the position of family head, taking over his parent's responsibilities at the tender age of 16. When he got his first degree, he was only 18 years old at the time and he was already the acting board chairman of Marchetti enterprises. Turning 19, he was fully in charge of the entire Marchetti empire in his father’s stead, and that was when he and his sister began to see less their parents and Bruni Marchetti understood their feelings but his sister....not so much. At least a few years ago but now, she does. He was always there for his younger sister and never allowed her to feel anything but his utmost love and care, creating an unbreakable bond between them to this day. Though Bianca was now a spoilt naive brat thanks to his incessant pampering. “What about your father? Have you informed him?” Ariana asked. Bruni Marchetti stiffened at her question. His father was the only one among his family who loved Ariana and couldn't stand a bad word about her. The rest of his family liked Quinn more and had also been relentlessly offering their assistance to help him look for her over the past six months. Though he understood that the news would hit his father hard and might even affect his already dwindling health condition, he couldn’t afford lose the love of his life for a second time. The thought alone made his heart clench painfully. “It’s my life, not my father’s. I know if he was in my shoes then he would do the exact same thing that I'm doing right now." He answered her in a heartless manner, his tone was full of conviction and that finally extinguished the little hope blooming in her heart. She rose to walk away when his phone rang, making her halt mid-step. As soon as he saw the caller ID, his lips tugged up a little, his eyes softened while his clenched jaw loosened and a his entire demeanor changed as his slender finger slid on the screen of the phone to answer the call and she paled knowing who the caller was without needing to see the name. “Quinn, what's wrong? Is there a problem?” He asked in a soft yet worried tone as soon as he answered the phone. Care, that Ariana had never seen on his face before shone in Bruni Marchetti's eyes, and the softness of his voice, which she had never had the luxury of hearing before, sounded in her ears and she looked at him in a daze. Not even his parents and little sister enjoyed the luxury of this side of Bruni Marchetti. Ariana felt as though she was looking at a different person altogether. The shock in her heart was immeasurable as she continued to watch him like a fool. Then it made sense that Bruni Marchetti might be cold and aloof to everyone else but he could also be sweet and caring to whomever he pleased. She realized yet again that day, that according to him, she Ariana Grasso, was never deserving of his sweetness. “But I just left there a while ago Quinn." He replied tenderly with a hint of a smile in his voice. "Yes, I just served her the divorce papers and we were discussing about it when you called." He again explained patiently, the kind of patience Ariana had never known he possessed. "Don’t worry about this matter, I'll take care of it." Tone still full of care. "Alright, calm down, I’m coming back. Just be calm and wait for me alright.” He patiently coaxed the woman on the phone before rising to his feet, already striding to the door. Deducing from his words on the phone just now, Ariana could tell it was pertaining to Quinn's fear of thunder and lightning which means it must be raining wherever Quinn was, and it was a very romantic gesture for him to go and comfort her. Ariana could taste the bitterness in her heart. “Mr Marche…” Before Ariana could finish calling his name, the man had already walked out of the door hastily without so much as a second glance her way. Feeling utterly drained, Ariana slumped back onto the couch and curled up in a fetal position as tears continuously dripped down her face. “Madam, are you okay?” A male voice asked her. Ariana sneered coldly in her heart, tired of the fake care an worry. With her eyes still closed, she responded. “ I’m fine. I’m just tired.” she said without moving a muscle. Assistant Luca, was the one who personally spearheaded the search for Quinn and should be well aware of everything happening so why was he trying to mock her for her defeat now that his Boss's beloved woman was back? It was hypocritical of him to pretend not to know anything and try to play nice like he really cared. “Let me help you to your room, Madam.” He cast a subtle glance at the divorce agreement still lying on the center table and excitement flickered in his eyes. “No, I’m fine here, thank you very much Luca." Ariana refused his fake kindness, pretending to be asleep. She heard more footsteps enter the living room some minutes later and continued pretending to be asleep. “Emilia must be too tired for her to be sleeping here on the couch in this uncomfortable position. Please, help me get her to her room Luca.” Massimo Marchetti ordered anxiously. His actions annoyed not only his wife Gianna Marchetti, Bruni Marchetti's mother but also his daughter Bianca Marchetti, Bruni Marchetti's younger sister, but also Assistant Luca who subtly looked away, pretending to have not heard anything when he was the one previously urging her to let him help her to her room. "Did you not hear what I just said?" Massimo Marchetti asked in a cold authoritative tone but due to his poor health, his words came out less authoritative. “With all due respect sir, I can’t touch the Madam. Mr Marchetti would not be happy that I carried the Madam into her room. I'm pretty sure she can walk by herself.” Assistant Luca replied coolly to his former Boss and Massimo's anger threatened to flare up as well but he took several deep breaths to calm down his unsteady emotions.
