1.I’m going to slap you hard—twice
Finally finished dealing with all those messy files! It was already 10 p.m., and outside it was completely dark.
As an experienced office worker, Tang Tang cursed under her breath while hurriedly saving her work, grabbed her bag, and got ready to leave. She felt like she could go crazy if she stayed even one more second.
Through the big glass windows of the office building, she could see countless skyscrapers towering over the city. Even though it was nearly midnight, the city was still brightly lit, with endless streams of cars. The air seemed to be filled with the scent of money.
But Tang Tang, who had been working overtime until 10 p.m., was just an ordinary, insignificant employee among millions. All she wanted was to rush back to her rented apartment and crash on the couch.
Just as she grabbed her bag, the manager’s office door suddenly creaked open, making her heart sink.“How come he’s still here?”
Sure enough, it was him.“Don’t rush off yet. Come in and have a seat. I need to talk to you.”
It was her boss, Zhang Shengli — a middle-aged, overweight man with an oily face, his features almost hidden beneath the fat, leaving only a pair of narrow, creepy eyes. He smiled insincerely.
He stood by the office door, tugging at his tie impatiently.
Tang Tang frowned and forced a polite smile. “Manager Zhang, it’s pretty late. I still have to catch the bus. Can we talk tomorrow?”
She was the only one left in the office at this hour. She had hoped to earn some overtime pay, but now she realized this old p*****t had other intentions.
She cursed him silently, wishing she could dig up his grave and flush his ashes down the drain.
She discreetly activated the voice recorder on her smart bracelet, ready to gather evidence.
She had only been at this company for three months. Her former kind and capable female boss had been promoted and sent overseas, replaced by this disgusting creep.
“Young people with drive are good, but if you don’t have the right approach, it’s all for nothing.”
Zhang Shengli grinned, speaking condescendingly, full of veiled innuendos: “Tang Tang, you’re young. No need to be so stubborn. If you lower your defenses, life will get a lot easier.”
He seemed addicted to hinting: “The team leader position is about to open up. That role is a stepping stone to management.”
Clearly, he was trying to pressure her into accepting his advances.“Easier? I’d rather die than make things easier for scum like you!”
Tang Tang’s eyelids trembled. Though she appeared scared, inside she wanted to punch him hard.
She kept silent, pretending to give in.
“Tang Tang, you’re smart.”
His creepy eyes kept roaming over her waist and chest.
Tang Tang’s skin crawled. She’d rather scoop cat poop with her bare hands than stand here!Just one look from him made her feel dirty.
“Don’t be shy. Be obedient, and you’ll definitely benefit.”
He smiled and tried to grab her.
“Don’t touch me!”
Tang Tang nearly vomited. Her anger was about to explode.
She smiled brightly and shot back: “Benefit? You’ll be cremated tomorrow, right? Even fire won’t burn your thick skin!”
She was Tang Tang — undefeated queen of the battlefield!
She considered herself civilized, but with a beast like him, only harsh words worked. She wasn’t planning to stay anyway, so she cursed freely. It felt good to get it off her chest.
“Zhang Shengli, you’re so confident looking like a rotten giant!”
“Look at yourself — what a joke!”
“Following you? I wouldn’t last three decades!”
“Even hitting you disgusts me!”
Zhang Shengli’s eyes widened in fury, his face twisted: “You filthy woman, how dare you insult me! Are you trying to…”
“Smack!”
Tang Tang slapped him hard, leaving a bright red mark. He staggered, dazed.
“Think you’re so righteous?”
He was furious and about to speak, but Tang Tang slapped him several more times, her hands aching.
“This slap is for harassing young women every day!”“Smack!”“This slap is because I want to!”“Smack!”“Buy one, get one free! Here’s another!”“Keep insulting me, and I’ll keep slapping!”“Smack! Smack! Smack!”
“You quitting? I’m firing you right now!”
Zhang Shengli’s swollen mouth and flushed face showed his rage, but Tang Tang dodged his attempts to hit her.
“Fire me then! I’ve wanted out for a while! You’re a maggot, treating everyone like dirt!”
Tang Tang had worked in a taekwondo gym for two years. She might not win against men one-on-one, but her fitness was way better than fat, lazy Zhang Shengli.
She watched him cover his face, red-eyed and furious, and wasn’t satisfied. She slapped him again.
So disgusting, all greasy fat.
“How dare you hit me? You witch!”
Tang Tang switched off the recorder, sneered, and grabbed a chair to smash on his head.
The chair was heavy — it hit Zhang Shengli hard.
She didn’t want a full fight, and when he stepped back, she ran.
“No need to thank me! All those slaps are yours!”
Zhang’s big belly made it impossible to chase her. He just covered his head, cursing loudly.
“Just you wait!”
Luckily, the office wasn’t on a high floor. Tang Tang took the stairs and left without using the elevator.
What a terrible night. She gritted her teeth, mourning the “great” job she was about to lose.
But it felt good to fight back! She wished she had Iron Man’s strength — one slap and she’d send this i***t boss flying into space!
She sighed and turned a corner — and saw a small, limping kitten in the middle of the road.
The kitten’s leg was clearly injured, probably run over by a car. It dragged a dark trail of blood behind.
“Where did this kitten come from?”
Weak meows reached her ears.Tang Tang looked at the busy street and cautiously approached.
She loved animals — more than people — especially those who depended on her.
The traffic light turned green, and cars stopped. Her eyes lit up and without hesitation, she ran over.
She knelt and scooped up the kitten. As she turned, a shout came from the side: “Watch out!”
Tang Tang’s pupils constricted as a red sports car roared toward her.
The screech of brakes and smell of burning rubber filled the air, and her mind went blank.
Pain exploded through her body as she blacked out.
“Host, wake up.”
“What’s that noise? So loud…”
Tang Tang struggled to open her eyes, still dizzy.
Moving her hand, she felt something soft and furry.
She shot up and locked eyes with a pair of feline pupils.
The cat stared at her.
“Am I… not dead?”
The fluffy creature blinked at her with big eyes.
Instinctively, Tang Tang started petting it.
“Really not dead?”
“What are you? A cat ghost?”
She held the cat’s tiny arms in front of her.Gradually, the cat transformed into a little boy.
“I’m not a cat ghost. I’m System #001: The Spending System!”
Tang Tang’s eyes widened. The cat opened its mouth and spoke — in a little boy’s voice.
She took a deep breath, carefully put the system-cat down, and stepped back.
“Spending System? Like the one I heard about?”
“Don’t think I didn’t see you step back a bit!”
Tang Tang thought she saw a hint of exasperation on the cat’s face — but she wasn’t sure.
After all, she had saved this cat, so she wasn’t scared.
She had almost died — what was there to fear now?
Seeing a talking cat for the first time was shocking.
But having lived over twenty years and met many people and beasts, her mental strength was rock solid.
Just a calm and collected office worker.
Her face was steady, but inside she thought: Finally, I get my superpower!
“How about it, Host? Bind me, and I’ll help you deal with that jerk by hiring twenty bodyguards to make him suffer!”
!!!
Tang Tang had been hesitant — but now her eyes truly lit up.
“Wow, this system might actually be real!”
