Simon pov I looked across from my seat, The woman before me was definitely not Tazlyn. I could not believe that my wife of two years who I had just divorced was an heir to the biggest business in the whole of Birmingham. “ Yes Mr Simon?” she questioned, that was the only thing I could pick from what she said. I had been so lost in my thoughts. “Mr Simon, are you even paying attention?” she looked directly at me, her eyes void of any emotions. I could not understand how it was so easy for her to act like we had never been married. “ how do we keep competitors out of business?” she continued. “I need a solid business plan by our next meeting”. She said, leaving the room. I had no idea what was discussed in the boardroom but I was relieved the meeting was over. “ Taz, Tazlyn Tazlyn” I called from behind, trying to meet up with her pace. “Hold on,” I said from behind, “ why can't you face me?” I continued. “ You know what, I should have known! You rich people have a reputation for being users” I blurted out,and she stopped abruptly, looking back at me she moved a few steps closer, a fillker of emotions in her eyes. I was relieved, once again, I could see the Tazlyn I once knew. “Taz…” just as I was about to apologize, a slap landed on my cheek. “ I made you all that you are, you have no right to call me a user” she said, rage bursting out of her eyes. “ Tazlyn, I didn't mean that” I said, taking her hands in mine. “ It's hard to believe, but there is a reason I did what I did” I continued. “Just stop it already” she yelled, yanking her hands out of mine. “Listen carefully, your little game is over, you lost me already and I am sorry ex-husband but you will never have your little Tazlyn back.” She turned around and left. I watched in shock as the convoy my ex wife came in left the building. I could tell she had made up her mind to ruin me. *********************** Tazlyn POV I had my hands on my chest, trying to control my heavy breathing. I still could not believe that I had done that to Simon. I could recall how hurt he looked when he found out about my appointment as CEO. “Well this is what he gets for what he did to me” I said to myself, shrugging my shoulders and focusing on the lone road while the driver drove. “Tazlyn, you have made headlines” Bryan said just as I got into the mansion. He was looking intensely at his phone screen. “ You truly take after Miss Beverly,” I heard from a distance. I had been too focused on Brayan, I didn't notice Lucian sitting in a corner. His legs crossed on each other, he had a glass of whiskey at hand. “That's a really good one,” he said, walking towards me. “ you look stunning," he said, pulling me in for a warm embrace. Lucian still looked the same, the empty bottle of whisky on the table made it clear he still kept his drinking habit. He stole a peck that lasted more than usual on my cheek; I had to pull out of his embrace, smiling through my teeth. “ Well since everyone is here, let's have dinner,” Brayan said, placing a hand on shoulder. “ We should feast mate” Lucian added. “ Tazlyn is you back” he said beaming. I could tell Lucian was particularly happy to have me back. I just knew he was going to keep convincing Mum to merge us both. But there was no way in the world I was going to let that happen. Lucian was a business tycoon Just like mum, but I had always known him for his shady deals in the business world and how he accumulated his wealth. Matter of fact I do not love him. “ Mum should be here any minute,” Bryan added. He and Lucian seemed to be getting along more. I couldn't tell what it was but they seemed rather odd “Mum’s coming?” I questioned settling in on my seat. “ Yes Taz, we planned this little dinner for you or Feast like my friend here would call it” Brayan said beaming. “Well thanks” I said amid a forced smile. I just knew they were scheming something. “Tazlyn” Lucian started. His eyes focused on his cutlery as it pierce through the veggies on his plate. “What do you intend to do with Simon” he asked, his eyes meeting mine. “What do you mean Lucian?” I questioned raising my brows. “ when he means is; you practically own Prestige Corp now.” Bryan cut it “will you keep Simon around, or take out the trash” He said, his eyes narrowing and his lips curving into a sly smile. I knew Luciam hated Simon, but I did not understand where my brother's hate was coming from. “I have not decided,” I said blankly. “Do you still feel something for him?” Lucian questioned I paused, holding my cutlery in my hands. I raised my hands to see Bryan looking intensely at me. I could tell he was tauten, hoping I will break the silence and tell them if I still feel something for Simon. “I em I….” I stuttered, trying to find my words when “Tazlyn is smart now, I think the outside world shaped her” mum cut in from behind. I took a deep sigh; for the first time in years I felt at ease with my mum’s presence. She had been standing there for a while listening to our conversation and she eventually joined in for dinner. I didn't quite know if I still loved Simon. As much as I am glad he is getting what he deserves, a part of me was still drawn to him. “It's hard to believe, but there is a reason I did what I did!” his word kept ringing in my head but I waved it off. What mattered most to me was taking back all that I gave to him and getting away from Mum and her schemes. I cannot end up with Lucian and it was my only escape. “I think I will head to bed” I blurted out, moving away from the dining. “Tazlyn, why so early? Don't you miss having me around?” Lucian said, his hand on my arms; he looked at me tenderly running his fingers through his hair. Lucian had pretty eyes every lady would fall far, he is also known to flirt at any chance he has. I rolled my eyes. “I have a long day ahead,” I said, pulling my hands from his. “ Good night mum” I yelled out heading towards the step leading to my room. “ she will definitely come around” I heard mum say as I walked up. “ Well she better” Bryan replied his tone seemed rather harsh, making me stop in my tracks. He whispered something I could faintly hear to my mum and Lucian. I could not understand why Bryan was whispering, a large part of me wanted to know what the confidential conversation was all about. I took a stroll down the stairs, tiptoeing not to alert them. But I still could not get a hint of what they were discusing. Bryan looked and acted completely different since I got back. He’d been distant and stern just like mum. I turned around, his words replaying in my ear and wondering why they were being so discreet.
