Chapter 31

Parker

I rush down into the bunker and look around for Ryan. I can’t find him anywhere and I get concerned that he went off by himself. Before going for a run to search for him I call out his name, “Ryan?!”

No response and I call again, “Ryan? Are you down here?”

A door opens, and he walks out and says, “Yeah?”

I turn around and look at him and my jaw drops a little. He just got done taking a shower and the towel is hanging low on his hips.

I’m unable to speak as my eyes roam over his body. His abs are well defined he definitely has a 6 pack… maybe even an 8. I begin to count when he clears his throat and my eyes snap up to his and he’s smirking at me as he asks with a teasing tone, “Like what you see?”

I look away as I feel my face heat up and I say, “Get dressed I need to talk to you.”

I walk into the living room and sit and wait for him to come back. When he walks back in, he’s wearing basketball shorts and is in the process of putting a t-shirt on and I know he is doing this to make me feel flustered. Once his shirt is on, he smirks as he asks, “What’s up, Par?”

“I wanted to apologize.” I mutter and I see his eyes light up with surprise and he sits down and asks, “What for?”

“Well, um, AJ used his powers on you.”

He looks at me curiously and says, “Doesn’t he use them like automatically? I don’t understand what you mean.”

I sigh, “He can amplify emotions and he thought that he saw love in you and amplified it to a point where you felt like you had to express it.”

He nods and says, “Well, I guess he knows about us now.”

I chuckle and nod, “Seems like that.”

We both remain silent and after a few minutes I look at his blue eyes and say, “I have strong feelings for you, Ryan.”

His smile is huge. He says, “I have strong feelings for you, Parker.”

I smile nervously, “I don’t know if it’s love… but I’m interested in seeing where we will go. And I guess there isn’t a point in hiding it when it’s obvious how much AJ wants to see it.” I look down at my hands nervously as I say, “On top of that… I don’t think we’ll be breaking up.”

I bite my lip nervous of what his response is going to be and suddenly he’s sitting beside me and he lifts my chin up and is smiling softly and I can see so much love in his eyes that it scares me and he whispers, “I don’t think we will either.”

He kisses me and it’s so slow, but full of so much passion.

Ryan

In a weird roundabout way… Parker admitted that she loves me. I try to hide my excitement from her but knowing that AJ can see that we are in love with one another makes me so happy it’s insane.

We agreed to be public. I can’t believe it.

After kissing a little we ended up snuggling on the couch while watching a movie and Parker fell asleep on me. I’m just glad that she is able to get some rest.

I hear the others come inside and I look towards everyone and AJ looks at me with a big grin on his face. He comes up to me and looks at his mom and back at me and said, “Mama is sleeping on you.”

I chuckle and nod, “Yeah, she is.”

“You love my mama.”

It’s a statement not a question. I look down at Parker and she is still soundly sleeping, and he says, “Mama loves you too, but she doesn’t know it yet.”

I smile and nod at him because I didn’t want to say anything else just in case Parker could hear us. Parker stirs and she wakes up and says, “Hey, AJ.”

He smiles and crawls in her lap and says, “Hey mama.”

She plays with his hair and says, “Little man, I’ve got some news for you.”

She looks around and sees everyone in the room and says, “I have news for everyone actually.”

She looks back at me and smiles and I smile back at her as she announces, “Ryan and I are in a relationship.”

AJ lunges and hugs us both while everyone cheers for us and I know… as long as I’ve got Parker by my side I don’t need anything else in this world.

Parker

AJ was thrilled when I announced mine and Ryan’s relationship. Everyone was. We made cake and let AJ help ice it and just celebrated us all being together again.

We went to bed and it’s unspoken, but our sleeping arrangements will be staying the same.

I woke at four a.m. and I couldn’t fall back asleep and I just had a feeling something was wrong. I teleported myself out of the bunker and I’m running through the perimeter unable to shake the feeling that something is off.

I’m a little past the halfway point and I’m getting more uneasy with every step that I take. Chills are running down my spine as I hear leaves rustling. I can feel the fire underneath my skin itching to break free and I hold my hands out as I look around. I don’t want to be the first one to make a move so I will wait for whoever this is to reveal themselves.

I hear a voice, “Parker?”

My eyebrows furrow in concentration and I say harshly, “Who’s there?”

More rustling and I move my hand out and let a flame light the way so I can see clearly.

The man comes into view.

My eyes widen and my heart stops. He smiles revealing his dimples as he says my name with his voice is airy as he says in shock and awe, “Parker.”

My chest is tight as I force myself to respond, “Ashton?”
