Anton Ivanov wasn’t exactly a friend of Konrad’s, but he could be called a friendly acquaintance. In his role as the wealthy Mr Savast of Bakar House, Konrad moved in some of the same circles as the banker’s family. They’d met at various parties and other functions, and Konrad had paid an occasional social call on Madam Ivanova.
Still, that wouldn’t make it easy for him to just walk in and ask for all the details about the missing diamond and Yulia Ivanova’s sister. He didn’t advertise his interest in mysteries (Nuritov being the sole exception to this general principle). His visit would have to look like a social one.
