“A business proposal,”

1612 Words
Rias POV My best friend called minutes ago, complaining about her life in general. I mean, not like my own was any better but I still wanted to comfort her. Reyna was that person to me. “I wish I could just go away from here…” she trailed. Her voice was void of life. It was a low, guttural tone that scared me. “Are you fine? I could always show up and beat the hell out of whoever’s pissing you off—” “Don’t do that. You’re only going to get me in more trouble.” she answered, without hesitating. “Why? If this is affecting you, then move out.” This wasn’t the first time I was telling her these words. But she always let her guard up whenever I brought it up. “I would be fine.” she murmured. “Guess I just need to ‘not interfere’ in what goes on in the house.” “Will you?” “Sure. Thanks… really.” she replied me, sniffling. “You made me feel better already.” “Glad I did,” I exhaled, still thinking of her home. Who did those people think they were? “I, um, have to go now.” “Really?” I replied Reyna’s words, with cringed brows. “Yeah, I’m fine now, don’t worry about me. Worry about finding yourself a d-" I chuckled a bit cutting her off. “Seriously?” She sniffled and I could hear tap running like she was washing something. “Yeah…” “Okay.” “Yeah.” “Yeah, bye for now, bestie.” She hung up first, and I sighed. I would be going to check on her when next I was free. I peeled my clothes off, remembering the events of today. Sir Colton’s soft words and the way he comforted me. I felt strangely safe around him. Like I was just where I was supposed to be. “Mm-hm,” I breathed out, as I walked in the bathroom naked, my towel in my hands. I shut the bathroom door close with my thoughts on his growls, and the way he kept calling me mate. “There is something mysterious about him. I just can’t lay my hands on it.” *** “Oh my God!” I gasped at the presence in my room as I finished bathing, entering the main room. "Whoops," he said placing his palms around his eyes. "C-Colton?” I stuttered instantly. What was he doing in here, on my bed of all places? Holy Molly… he just had to show up now, while I was half dressed. "What are you doing here?!" My hands reflexly clasped around my towel to hold it firmly. Right now, they were my lifeline. And with these thoughts, I silently pleaded that they don't betray me falling down. “I'll wait outside till you're dressed, Rias. Let me know when you're decent." he said before going out of my room. I’m so dead… I thought wondering why he suddenly came. Has he found out about his manuscript? Was this why he just ignored me? Damnation, he was probably annoyed at me. "What am I going to do now?" I said to myself pacing the room before taking a deep breath and going to towards the door. "You can come in now," I uttered, staring at his handsome face. Sitting on the nearby sofa, he had this relaxed expression on his face, with some dark and intimidating gaze pressed on me. There was a way his dark hair kissed his forehead, that made him look angelic. Yet…in a devilishly handsome way, if that made sense. And his damn lips… did he have his nose done? Let me hear what he had to say anyway. "Why did you want to see me?" I asked, nibbling my inner mouth nervously. “I’m offering you a business proposal, Rias.” he stated. “Once you accept it, I’ll deal with whoever stole my manuscript.” he smirked, adding. “What?!” I exclaimed, with a startled glance. “You’re aware that I misplaced your manuscript?!” Cuddly bunny, fuzzy slippers… What was I supposed to do now? Perhaps, if mother nature could open the ground with me falling inside for now…I’d thank her in ten folds. “The older woman you met earlier told me about it. She’s a housekeeper here, Rias.” he explained. Colton sat upright, with an intimidating expression on his face. “W-what’s the proposal?” I gulped, asking him. “Be my Luna and your debts would be cleared off.” I let out a cough, with my eyes becoming teary that instant. Almost seeing red, I voiced out, “Why do you keep scaring me?” I panted, almost hyper ventilating. “Using terms that are familiar in books you write…what are you, some werewolf?” “I’ve been trying to tell you this, ever since we met. I’m one,” Colton stated, nodding his head firmly. I was currently trying not to freak out. My knees grew weak, making me fall to the floor in total shock. My eyes… All I could see was red. My entire body felt bloated and my chest was just as if I was having a heartburn. “A-re you joking?” I stammered. A guttural growl resonated the room, and this time I was sure I wasn’t mistaken. It came from Colton. We were the only people in the room, I mean. “Riasss…Riaasss!” The red turned to haze, and a blurry figure approached me. The instant some skin contacted mine, my poor heart couldn’t take it anytime. It was black from the haze. And, I think I passed out. Alpha Stone’s POV The location where the meeting of the elders was held, was in the packhouse. Since I didn’t stay at the packhouse, I had to drive down there. I did it for my image as a celebrity Writer. One mistake and a paparazzi could snoop where he wasn’t supposed to. Besides, I wanted to separate my career achievements from my life as an Alpha. “Alpha Stone,” My Beta bowed to me, saying, just at the entrance. He was the one who checked everything when I wasn’t around. “Cross,” I gave him a pat on the back saying. “Glad to see that you’re back, there is an issue.” he whispered. Cross also whispered what was on ground and my eyes widened in disbelief. I straightened the neckline of my vampiric clothing, swaying it in pride as I stepped in to the room of the elders. As I walked in, I could hear chattering. “What’s going on here?” I asked. There were half naked women, clinging unto the neck of each elder who seemed highly drunk. Cross rushed beside me, dropping to the ground. “Forgive me, Alpha. I should have put an end to this before you stepped in,” “It’s neither your fault that they’re naïve or stupid, Cross. Please get up.” I seethed. Leo made a low-key growl, so they could recognize him. However, the eros things carried on. They ignored me as their Alpha and that pissed him off. “Enough!!!” My growl was louder this time, and I bared my fangs, even though I was sat on the highest seat. “All of you, get out!!!” The women gasped, running out hastily while the drunk elders tried to come back to their damn senses. Cross rushed to take the alcohol bottles from each of them, clearing the table. “Lancelot, what is the meaning of this?!” I shrieked. He was the highest Elder and nobody did anything without informing him. An eventful burp erupted from his throat, before he spoke... “We have given you time, Stone.” he breathed out. “We chose a mate for you and you rejected her, which hasn’t happened throughout history,” “Layla is no match, dammit.” I seethed, in response. "At least I was straightforward instead of making her end up with someone who has no feelings for her, in an unwanted marriage." Not that it would have affected her though. She seemed to care about nothing but status pleasing these days. It was no surprise, her father was good at that. “I’m her father, Stone…” Elder Joshua retorted drunkenly. “Show some respect that I’m here.” Not our mate, Joshua! My wolf yelled in my head. I just hoped he didn't do anything to piss Leo off. “It’s not a hidden fact your daughter is no match for me. She didn't even pass the Luna character test,” “I'm aware she didn't pass the character test but you need to calm down, Alpha. Don’t you forget we accepted you to be our Alpha, even at such a young age.” Lancelot commented. “This means you won’t always see what we see—” “Back down, Lancelot.” I growled. “I am your damned Alpha, submit this instant.” Leo surfaced once more, very much ready to teach this Elder Joshua a lesson. “W-why?” His croaky voice groaned, drunkenly. “What did I even do?” Bloody hell, these people seemed to get on my nerve every time I came here. They seemed to think they could interfere with my love live, with an excuse that my Alpha lineage had to continue. “Ditto.” someone suddenly let out, walking through the door. The Elders gasped at my sister’s entrance. ***
