Library felt empty and sad, you could tell there were better places for teen-wolfs then hiding between books. At least I would have some very much needed privacy for this talk.
Mrs. Cornell was sitting behind one of the tables in centre of the room. In front of her were at least four books, she couldn't decide which one to pick.
"Hello, Alicia. I'm glad to see you."
"Hello Mrs. Cornell. You told me that I can come and talk if I need it, right?"
"Be my guest." she pointed at the chair in front of her and I gladly accepted her offer. "What can I help you with?"
I had to think about it for a second: "I know this will be probably a little out of place, but I have som questions...about mating process."
She looked a little surprised. "Of course you have, darling. But don't you wanna ask your parents about it?"
"I would rather not. We are not close anymore. A lot of things changed after the accident."
Now she was definitely shocked. "Well,...I mean, I noticed some tension when I called with them about your late arrival, but giving the circumstances, I didn't really think much about it. Nevermind. Ask me what you need to know."
From one awkward topic to another: "Okay. I guess I will ask right away...Is there any chance that our wolf could have more then one mate?"
"Yes, of course. After your eighteenth birthday you will be able to scent your fated mate. Sometimes you can feel them even sooner but that doesn't happen very often. If your mate dies or if he...rejects you for some reason, there is always a solid chance that you will get your second chance mate. It's pretty common."
"I know that. I ment...if there is any chance that you can feel your bond to two people in the same time."
She stayed quiet for a while: "No honey, I never heard of it. The whole point of the mating process is to have your significant other who will be there for you no matter what. Who will never leave you for someone else. If they do, the bond will break..and that's more painful than you can imagine."
"Yes, I know..but still. What if it happen?"
"It can't, Alicia. That's simply not possible. Even twins don't share their mates. Do you know why? Because they don't share one wolf."
I sat there quietly for a while.
Mrs. Cornell softly caressed my hand: "Alicia, maybe I know what's bothering you." she said softly. "You liked someone, you thought he will be your mate, but sadly he found his mate and it is not you. I know it can be very painful, but you will fine your mate eventually."
I took my hand back: "That's not it. Not at all. I know you mean it well, but you are so wrong."
"Then maybe you can help me understand?"
How could I? I wasn't even ready understand it myself.
"It's really simple when you think about it."
"Don't you even dare continue..."
