"With highest honor, Amanda Lewis. I stand with honor and grace as I walked from the center of the auditorium to the front stage. Finally, I made it! It was a battle of life and death yet I managed to defeat the obstacles that hinders me from obtaining my freedom. I am an orphan and was adopted by a middle-class family who had given me the privilege to education, clothes, and other necessities. My legal parents were strict to the point that I always felt suffocated whenever they provided orders and set their standards high as pedestal. It was truly a hell of a living. My biological parents? I don't know where the God had put their lowly souls. As soon as I got in this world, I was put on the front door of a shelter and was raised by the institution until I turned 12. After the adoption process, I got moved in a crowded city which was full of cunning and deceitful people including my so called Mom and Dad. I feel the overwhelming joy when I got up the stairs and head to the center of the stage to get my certificates and medals. The professor, Mr. John, insisted he will help me wear those heavy round medals so I let him even if it was embarrassing on my behalf. Dang! these things might stretch my neck if I wear these overnight. As soon as I glanced in my front, there are quite few people who looked at me as if I don't deserve to be here. I sighed. I am already immune with this treatment. As a scholar, I accepted a lot of criticisms and discriminations from the people who are wealthy enough to pay the school tuitions even without having a scholarship grant. It was hard at first but eventually I was able to adapt the new environment. I do prefer public schools than private institutions but these guardians of mine are very boastful that they chose to made me enter a school for elites even if they can't even pay half of the fees. I worked hard and was experienced burnout just to maintain my grades for my scholarship. Luckily, I survived since I have a good memory. Before I was legally named as Amanda Lewis, I gained a lot of achievements in my primary years despite the lack for tutoring. I won different titles from joining tournaments which was the reason why I got adopted by the Lewis. Though I wish they didn't done it in the first place. I shook my head from the thought. Stop that, without them you won't be able to experience living with your own room and eat without minding about other people's share. I gently retorted to myself. I can't wait for this to finish. After standing the entire ceremony, I will surely pack my belongings and storm out to the house. I have some savings from my monthly allowance that can be use for starting up a new life. Just a little bit of patience, Amanda. Since I am already in the legal age, I can get a part-time job while studying for my college. However, I can't possibly flee from my guardians so I expected them to nag me even after moving out in their territory. "Please look at the camera, Ms. Lewis." I got back from daydreaming when a flash hits my eyes. Crap, I nearly forgot I was in the middle of attending my graduation rights. I look at the photographer below the stage and smile. "Done Ma'am! Thank you so much!" said by the photographer with a thumbs up. I nodded and glanced for the last time to the back benches for parents and saw the faces my guardians are making. They look like some loving parents who are proud for their daughter's achievements. Disgusting. I still manage not to make a bitter face while bowing and returning to my sit. ---- Author's note: Sorry for the grammatical errors Guys! I don't have an editor since I am still new.
