It was foolishly really, how she let Mars influence her so much and on a topic they barely discussed or of what she knew about—and to make it worse, if it wasn’t already was the fact that the topic of discussion was none other than Avra.
Every time Mars came to pick her up she had always found Avra with Sheen, they hadn’t been formally introduced to eachother as Sheen said it was unnecessary. And it was the reason why Mars always made sure to get there a bit late, she could see Avra wanted to talk to Sheen every time but her friend being herself—didn’t help her case.
“She might like you.”
Out of no where Mars stated watching out the kitchen with a bowl of cereal.
Sheen didn’t believe it one bit—in a matter of fact she thought it was the opposite really.
Vigorously shaking her head she denied. “That’s impossible.”
“Why do you think that?” a mouth full of cereal she asked. Sheen just looked at her hands then shrugged—of course she was belittling herself, again. “Sheen just ask her than doing this to yourself. Just because she cares about you doesn’t mean she is pitying you.”
A word of advice she shouldn’t have taken into thought, as of now she was the first to arrive and that meant she was alone with no other than Avra.
“You are really early today.” Avra looked up meeting Sheen’s gaze, her hands were balled up into tiny fights—trying her best to control her anxiety. “You can sit down you know.” Avra spoke pointing at the chairs she had just finished arranging.
With a hum she took a sit and she did Avra, that sort of made her a bit too cautious even if Avra was three chairs away from her.
“How was the week?” Avra asked. A friendly smile on her face and her gaze on Sheen.
“Good. It was good.” she happily nodded. It was a first really for her to actually admin the week was good, and it not being a lie.
“Really? Anything interesting happened?”
“We cleaned their room.” Sheen mumbled, her lips pursed she stared into Avra’s eyes—curious—she was curious, she had never spoken much and when she did she never said much—it was a first.
“Who are they?”
“A friend. She is in a better place now.” Avra didn’t interrupt, obviously knowing she might have had more to say and she did.
“I let myself cry for the first time in a while and it felt freeing.” and then she smiled genuinely that made Avra heart flatter—she had a beautiful smile.
Smiling herself Avra stood. “If you ever want to talk like this anyday, you have my number and know where to find me.”
Sheen hadn’t noticed that Avra stood because people started to gather, she wanted to talk for a bit more but maybe another time.
Watching Avra greet everyone she smiled to herself—Avra wasn’t so bad, she wasn’t bad at all.

It had been stupid of her to not check the weather forecast beforehand considering Mars wasn’t going to be around to kick her up today.
And maybe the dark clouds earlier should have been a sign for her to carry an umbrella—and now staring at the moist carpark she pursed her lips.
Everyone but her brought an umbrella.
“Still waiting on your friend?” Avra asked. Again standing beside her staring at a distance as they both watched the rain pour.
Sheen had always been the last person to leave which always made Avra a bit happy, even if they rarely talked most times just to wait with her was enough for her.
And watching the rain—people skipping through the rain or the kids jumping into the paddles, it wasn’t half as bad—not for all but then the man on the bike drenched in rain frustratingly wiping off the water drops off his face.
Maybe Sheen wasn’t the only one who forgot to check the weather forecast beforehand.
“Actually I was waiting for you.”
Diverting her attention to the woman beside her, Avra smiled—she would have never thought Sheen would wait on her—some dreams weren’t just dreams.
“Here I am.”
Sheen exhaled before she spoke—it was worth a try or she would end up drenched in the bus. “I would like to use that free ride you wanted to offer last Sunday. If that’s okay?” she mumbled staring down at her fingers.
Avra was a bit too quiet for her liking—maybe that was her no, she could have had plans not everyone was rushing to go home and do nothing.
“I would love to.”
Opening up the umbrella beside her she held it up over both of them, securely placing her around Sheen shoulders she pulled her closer—it wasn’t a very big umbrella hence she didn’t want to get her wet.
Sheen however was absolutely shocked for two reasons than one, one being she easily agreed and two she was so close to her body she couldn’t help but admire her features up close—nor ignore how her heart was beating so fast or how she was decently sniffing her perfume.
She liked it.
