CADEN WAS UNUSUALLY quiet on the way to my place. So much so that I thought maybe he’d regretted bringing me to the party.

I thought back and couldn’t remember putting my foot in my mouth or saying anything disrespectful around him. I told myself that I was probably tired and being paranoid. After all, we’d shared some smiles and kisses earlier. Whatever was on his mind probably had nothing to do with me.
