THE WHISPERING FOREST

It was night when I wondered off into a dark, dense forest lost in thought of life,asking myself if I had made the right choices or not. I got lost in thought so much that I was wondering deeper and deeper into the forest. When I realized, I turned back but didn't remember the path I just took. I tried my luck by choosing a path just by guessing. I walked down the path I chose and hoped for it to be the right one. As I walked down the path, hoping it was the right one, I met an old woman picking mushrooms off the path. I greeted her and as I was about to walk away stopped me and said, "Young people truly are ignorant, you do not see what lies before you and believe anything your heart desires. But remember, not all paths are to be walked along". Those words sent shivers down my spine. Then, she walked into the darkness and vanished, as if it was a part of her. When I turned, a new path had appeared in front of me. And mysteriously as it appeared, it vanished right after it had led me home. All of this felt too strange. I walked into my house still thinking off what had just happened. I couldn't stop thinking about it even as I went to bed. I woke up the next day felling exhausted. But before I continue the story let me start from the beginning; I'm Nina, a poor orphan student, that got abandoned at birth. I was sponsored by the orphanage when I was young, but now, I ham 18 and have left the orphanage to live alone. I am currently a senior at Peking University and studying on a scholarship. I'm currently majoring in Medical Science and I also at the top of my department(I don't mean to boast but...). Life's been tough recently, ever since a rich girl from the Reed family,Sophia Reed just joined our university. A lot of people try o please her by picking on poor scholarship students like me, but she doesn't really seem to care. She joined my department, and she even ended up in my class. I couldn't believe it. I was always the top of my class before she arrived but now, I compete with her in every class activity. She doesn't seem like a bad person. She's been trying to make friends with me but I tink it's all part of her"Kind rich girl act". But I was soon proven wrong. One morning, bullies cornered me. Sophia not only saved me, but also spoke up for me. The next day, I saw her care for a stray cat, then I wondered(Maybe I was wrong about her, maybe she IS a good friend). The next day, when she came up to me to make friends I didn't refuse. Surprisingly, she looked over joyed. After that, anytime she had problems with academics, she would come to me. She would buy me lunch and insist of taking me shopping, even though I would refuse any times. Sophia and I became the best friends. One day, Sophia met a boy that changed her life.
