Found her

Nicolai Volkov It’s a cold day today and everywhere is so peaceful. The view in the garden is the best to refresh your morning. I stand staring at the beautiful flowers, as a smile forms at the corner of my lips. It is almost three weeks to my coronation as the Alpha of the dark moon pack, but there’s only one thing stopping me from being crowned as the alpha, and that’s the absence of my wolf. I have searched everywhere and even other packs, hoping that I would find her, but nothing is happening. It’s just like I’m not lucky this time around. I’m depressed because of the chief’s constant frustration and threats of giving the throne to another person, and that’s the last thing I would allow to happen. I’m just pretending to be fine, but I’m not. “Greetings, my lord,” that’s Vitya’s voice behind me. Vitya is my childhood friend and also my beta. We’ve been together for years, and he knows virtually everything about me. “To what do I owe this early morning visit?” I turn around to face him, and he just shrugs. “Today is Friday; don’t you think we should go out and have fun? I just discovered a restaurant in the town. What do you think?” he smiles at me and I sigh softly. This is too early for that, but there’s no way I can say no, knowing the kind of person my friend is. Anyways, it won’t hurt to give it a try. I’m bored here anyways. “Sure,” I smile at him. He excuses himself to go get dressed for the place, while I head to my room to do the same. My name is Alpha prince Nicolai, the heir to the throne of the blue moon pack. My father, the Alpha, passed away a couple of months ago, and since then the throne has been empty. I’m supposed to have been crowned by now, but that can’t be done unless I present my mate. I’ve lived for thirty years and never bothered to find my mate because I don’t want to be stuck with a woman for the rest of my life. I prefer to have many mistresses, but now I have no choice. Maybe this is the moon goddess, giving me a taste of my own medicine. After I get dressed, I leave the castle with Vitya. I don’t know where my dear friend is taking me, but I presume that it's somewhere that be fun to be. “So tell me, what are you planning to do about this thing?” he asks and I just shrug. I mean, there’s nothing else I can do than to keep searching, right? “I’ll just keep searching until I find her. But if this prolongs, I may give up everything,” even if I’m not ready to give up. “I think you should go into the world. Who knows, you may just find her,” I scoff at his suggestions. That’s the last thing I would ever think of doing. Going into the world means going into the human world. Mating a human is what I’ll never accept, even in my dream. “No,” I reply to him bluntly and he scoffs. After driving for almost an hour, I finally get into the city. This place is not bad, but there’s no house here that matches the beauty of the castle. I take the last turn that leads to the supposed restaurant but matches the brake hard as a young lady collides with my car. I stop the car abruptly and Vitya jumps out before me. Stepping out of the car, I hurry to the lady lying on the ground in a pool of her blood, but stop abruptly as my wolf roars the word ‘mate’. My mouth drops open in shock as I stare down at her pale face with blood oozing from the part of her body that I have no idea of. “Come on, let’s get her to the hospital,” Vitya quickly pick her up in a bridal style and takes her to the backseat of the car. I still can’t believe what just happened. We rush her to the hospital. “Are you ok?” Vitya asks me suspiciously, and I nod. How can I possibly tell him that I just found my mate? He’ll think that I am crazy. “Yes,” I reply to him absentmindedly. I stand at the window side and stare out through the window, reminiscing on the incident that just happened. There’s no way in hell this is happening. I mean, it’s obvious that the lady is a human, so why on earth would the moon goddess pair me up with a human. Is that some joke or something? There’s no way I’ll allow that to happen, not now and not forever. That’s a shameful thing that has never happened before. Vitya has gone to see the doctor, so I’m waiting for him to come to join me so we can go home. I shouldn’t have agreed to come out with him; here I am stuck in thoughts. A few minutes later, he walks up to me with a smile on his face. “She’s out of danger now. The doctor said that she just sustained a little injury at the back of her head. It’s a good thing that it’s not that deep, so she’ll be fine after a few hours of rest. “Pay the doctor the bills and let’s get out of here. She’ll find her way when she wakes up,” I start heading to the exit door. “Come on, we have to stay here and make sure she’s…” I’d already exits the hospital by the time he finish talking. If only he knows what’s happening to me right now, I’m sure he won’t even think of keeping me back here for another minute. All through the drive home, her image keeps popping in my head, no matter how much I try to get it off my head. My wolf was so excited at the sight of her, and just that fact makes me cringe. I have always trusted my wolf, but he disappointed me today, and it's pissing me off. “You have been acting weird since you saw the girl. Are you ok?” Vitya is always quick to notice something strange about me, no matter how much I try to hide it, so I’m not surprised. Regardless, I ignore his question and focus on the road. After what seemed like forever, I finally drive into the castle. As soon as I step out of the car, one of the guards comes rushing over to me. “Greetings, my lord. The priest has been seeking your presence for some time now,” I don’t know why his words make me raise my eyebrows, but something tells me that everything is not right…
