Turn of table

Zia Vladimir It has been two weeks after the incident and my life has remained the same. My father is only growing worse by the day and it hurts. The pain of being rejected by one's own family hurts a lot, but some things are better left like that. Maybe this is my fate and the best thing is to embrace it and learn to live with it. Besides, this is how my life has always been as far as I can remember. It's a beautiful morning today and trust me, I feel so refreshed. The early morning sunlight welcomes me and a smile laces up my lips as I stare up at the old ceiling. The thought of Vitya flashes through my mind and I feel butterflies flying in my abdomen. After that day that he brought me home and dropped me on my way, we have seen each other a couple of times and I must confess that he's really fun to be with. My father traveled yesterday and won't be back until one month, so I feel happy. At least, I'll enjoy some good time before he returns with the hell. Since today is Sunday, I'll just stay back at home and get my clothes washed and maybe read some books. Reading novels has always been the only thing I love doing, but because of the stress from my father, I have never been chanced to do it. I've saved money to buy a few books, and now it seems like buying them was never a bad idea in the first place. "Wow!" This is how it feels to be free, and I enjoy it. For the first time in my entire life, I feel so free and happy and at the same time, I'm sad that I feel like this. I'm supposed to be missing the only family I have whenever he's away, but here I am, getting all excited that he's finally gone for a few days. "Don't be sad, let's do something productive," I sit up on the bed and ruffle my hair slowly. It takes me three minutes before I finally stand up and get to work. After I'm done with my normal morning routines, I set to read my novels in the living room, while drinking from the juice I bought yesterday night with the last money on me. At least I should enjoy myself all I can before the devil comes back. You can't blame me for calling my father a devil, right? He is truly a devil, a dangerous one at that. Getting lost in the world of fantasy while smiling excitedly, enjoying the flow of the novel, the sudden knock on our wooden door, pull my attention and I huff angrily. Why does the person have to distract me now of all time, huh? "I'm coming," I snap angrily when I hear another knock on the door for the second time. I reach out to it and pull it open to behold the least expected person, standing there looking as handsome as always. "Vitya!" I call surprisingly and his smile slowly widens, showing off his set of white teeth... Nicolai Volkov "We can't wait anymore, my lord. The throne has been left for so long and you're not saying anything. For the past few months, we only let you be because you haven't found your mate then, but now that you finally found her, what are you still waiting for?" That's the head of chiefs, Lord Ratmir. Who says that they haven't been pressurizing me? "Lord Ratmir is right, my lord. You can't keep us waiting like this. The throne can't remain empty without anyone ruling us," Lord Rafail, one of the ministers backs him up and I sigh deeply. For how long will all these continue? Do I need to be stuck with one woman for the rest of my life, just to sit on the throne and become the alpha? Gosh! Father never told me that this will happen. Because if he had told me, I wouldn't have promised him that I will ascend the throne. I would've just asked him to give the throne to someone else, and not make me the heir. "You have to act fast and bring her here, so the coronation can start immediately," Lord Ratmir further says and I sigh. I'm frustrated, they're driving me crazy already, and it seems like they're never going to stop. "I told you already..., I refuse to be mated to the one that the moon goddess paired me up with. She's not the kind of woman I want, and there's nothing any of you would say, that'll ever make me change my mind," I finally speak up for the first time since they've been talking. "My lord..." "She's a human..." I cut lord Rafail off, and I bet they all look shocked. That's the expression and reaction I want. They'll finally let me off now that they know that she's not worthy to be my mate. I don't want to be stuck with one woman for the rest of my life, and even if I'm going to be stuck with a woman, she'll be worth being with. Someone that'll be able to go to fight beside me on the battlefield, someone that'll bear my pups, and not some weak human that can't even stand the trial of being laid by me. A few minutes passed, and silence crowd the atmosphere. The only sound I keep hearing are their murmurs and I wait patiently for them to conclude and get back to me. Of course, I know that there's no way they will ever let a human become their Luna. That's not possible. "My lord..." Lord Ratmir finally breaks the silence and I wait in anticipation. "According to the history of the blue moon pack, a human has done wonderfully well, ruling the pack with the alpha. She was a strong woman who was envied by other people and they wished they could have someone as strong as her. This won't stop anything, my lord. We've concluded that you should bring her here for the right thing to be done, in one week time," I freeze on the spot as his words ring in my head. What the heck just happened?...
