CHAPTER 7

It was break and Theo was walking in the student center with Thompson and some other guys when he saw Margaret talking to Mia. He has seen them a couple of times and he was sure that's her friend. He has also seen pictures of Margaret and her sister with Mia on their blog site. She will definitely know more about Margaret so he decided to talk to her later sometime, he said to himself.

He whispered something to Thompson and excused himself.

"Hey ladies", he said as he approached them

"I'm Theo, you must be Mia right?"

"Yes I'm Mia, nice meeting you", Mia replied

"Excuse me, Margaret I've to get some snacks right now. Don't worry no need to come along I'll get some for you", Mia said

Margaret hated Mia, why would she leave her with this weirdo? She knew she was not going to get any snacks. She did this intentionally to excuse herself and leave them together.

"When do you suggest we start our project?", said Theo

Margaret decided to act the mute character. After all he'll leave her if doesn't speak to him.

"When do you suggest we begin our project, Margaret Lawson?"

Still there was no response.

"Alright, don't think your unresponsiveness is going to scare me off girl. You don't know me yet", Theo said with a determined look on his face

Margaret looked at him and their eyes locked. Who's this guy at all? What does he want from her?

"See I'm not interested in any of this project. Kindly do your self a favor by Choosing another person", Margaret replied

"But this is a class assignment and we'll get credits for it. Why wouldn't you want to participate", Theo asked again

"Well, even if I'll do it not with you. I'll work with my friend Mia. Now will you leave me alone. Also whatever you saw the other night, discard it. I've told my parents about it so there's no point bribing me with it into doing a project with you", Margaret added

She knew she was telling a lie but she did that do he would still not hold on to what happened last night.

They just stood there and no one was talking.

Mia came back with no snack in her hand actually.

"They didn't have our favorite so I didn't buy it actually", she said it to cover her guilty conscience

Margaret rolled her eyes, she'd deal with Mia later but for now they had to go away from this guy.

Margaret started walking away and Mia hurriedly followed her.

Mia turned and looked back at Theo. She really hoped things went well. Margaret needs to be helped and maybe this guy could be the one she thought.

School was over and Margaret hurried out as usual.

She didn't even wait for Mia, she wanted to be alone. As she walked out of school she didn't know someone followed her. As she walked she only thought about Cherise and how she had missed her. Everything was going on fine. Why did she even agree to drive the car that fateful night? Now Cherise is gone and she's never going to see her again.

"Hey Margaret", a familiar voice called from behind

She turned and there was Theo standing looking innocent with a smile on his face. This time she didn't walk walk or look away she stood there waiting to hear whatever he had to say to her.

"Well about the project I think you should give it a try. See I promise you we'll go to only one place and if you don't like it we'll stop. Don't worry I'll allow you choose the place but it'll be best if I choose it. Do we have a deal?", Theo said as he stretched his hands

Margaret stood there thinking of what to say to him. She stretched out her hands and shook it accepting the offer.

"Alright then, let me walk you home", Theo said happily

She thought he'll leave her alone after she accepted it. Why does he want to escort her home?

They walked in silence and the the cool wind blew over them. Theo started humming a song and Margaret knew the song alright.

"Do you listen to songs", Theo broke the silence

Margaret nodded and she immediately knew what will follow next.

"What are your favorite songs?*, Theo asked again

"About the project....", Margaret started

"Huh what about the project", Theo asked raising his eyebrows

"We're not going to use a car. I don't like cars and it should be out of the project", Margaret replied

Theo was bewildered. What were they supposed to use if they didn't use a car. He even thought of using his car but also waited to see if she would prefer using her car

But here she was telling him they weren't supposed to use any car. Why this?

"Alright no car", Theo said

They walked some more and Margaret stopped. Theo immediately knew they were standing in front of her house.

"Alright I'll see you tomorrow then", Theo said

Margaret just nodded and walked into the house. As she was about to enter, she turned back and looked at Theo once more before slipping in.

They must be super rich, Theo thought to himself. Because just looking at the house alone tells you everything. Brighton community was a very expensive place with almost all the house almost looking the same because it was built with the plan of an estate. But Margaret's house was exceptional.

He climbed back on his bicycle and rode home.

Something in him really wanted to help this girl, he felt they had a lot in common.

His secret which no one knew.
