WINTER
What is wrong with today? I mused, stretching my aching limbs.
Even geography, my favourite class, was gradually boring me to tears.
I had to combine the classes with what I do when bored. I snoozed in history class whilst this, I combined it with daydreams, by staring out the window and making a mental note of ten things I needed to do before graduation comes.
*Apply to one of the best performing colleges
*get Rey to ask me out
Those were the only two things my thought came up with as Lee kept prodding me to listen to her.
Rolling my eyes, I twisted facing her. She recounted the party she went to the night before, giving me the full details in a hushed voice.
Lee attended all the parties hosted in school as she practically knew everyone. Also, she was one of the popular kids which earned her the pass to be in every hangout. Still, I was grateful she didn't discard me to pursue popularity.
"Miss James and Miss Simms, " Miss Kyle, the geography teacher said. Plumpy and of average height, her cocoa skin shone as the sun ray hit it. Despite her size, she moved with fluid grace. Unlike some people... My eyes roamed the class, then landed on Will. A fatso and sweaty nerd chewing on his pencil. I cringed as he pulled it out with spit dripping off it.
"Kindly share with the class what you were busy discussing?" Miss Kyle folded her arms on her chest, showing her ample cleavages in the process as she stared at us.
"Nothing ma'am," Lee said blushing as the whole class concentrated on us. I turned to a seat to my right as I heard giggling.
Alyssa stuck out her tongue as our eyes met. I gave her an eye roll, then flipped her my middle finger.
"Detention in history and now, we have to keep standing till she asks us to sit." I groaned.
Miss Kyle's punishment was more infuriating than Mr Jackson's as the whole class got to stare at our butt, especially the ones at the back which consist of the jocks.
They were all perverts. No one excluded, not even Kellen though his own was always done discreetly.
"Today is so wrong," I whined.
"Hey Winnie, look who decided to show up for geography," Lee murmured in my ear whilst nudging my side.
I spun around, gaping at the figure standing at the door, talking to Miss Kyle looking all sexy and handsome.
Rey.
He had never been to a class twice before which was a surprise for he was in geography right now.
Another thing about him was, Although he didn't attend all classes, he still had A's in most of his subjects including history he despised so much. I had once eavesdropped on his conversations with Kellen and I overheard them talking about history as a subject.
He had declared it the worst subject ever and later proclaimed his hate for it.
Rey was too smart and laid back for his good like Kellen who was behind him, looking so hot as well.
Kellen stared directly at us. I knew his gaze wasn't significantly directed at me, rather at Lee. He had been infatuated with Lee since I had known him but he had never approached her.
Lee being Lee was oblivious to his affections for her.
After two minutes of being on the same spot, talking with Miss Kyle, the duo made their way to our seats.
Rey's gaze was on me the whole time. The uncomfortable feeling from earlier came again.
I shifted, turning to Lee completely. It didn't help that my back was to him either as I sensed his eyes drilling holes into my back. Lee tapped my shoulder and I nodded at her.
I whirled again to see them at our front staring at us.
My brow creased as I stared at Lee. She also has the same expression of confusion on her face.
"What?" I questioned, quirked an eyebrow since I couldn't bear the silence any longer. Also, avoiding Rey's gaze in the process, though the intensity of it had reduced a bit.
They didn't answer but Miss Kyle did.
"I'm assigning new partners since we have a project coming up soon." Miss Kyle took out an A4 paper and called out names. "Sheila and Luka, Gabe and Lucy,"
The whole class groaned, dragging their feet on the floor to show their frustration until she hushed them.
She and her impromptu projects!
I knew who I would be partnered with. It happens every term. So, this wouldn't be an exception.
Lee and I make a great team when partnered up. We share almost the same ideas and opinions.
"Alyssa and Will,"
Oh my goodness!
Will as in Will the slob, the fatso. At least that was the name Alyssa labelled him with. It was amusing that the person she avoided like a plague was now partnered with her.
I stared at Alyssa who, obviously still astounded, didn't even bother masking it. Still rooted to her seat, her mouth hung open.
"Alyssa, move now." Miss Kyle said, snapping her out of her daze.
Allysa got up and changed position, literally knocking everything in her way.
"Zaylee and Kellen."
“Miss Kyle surely knows how to murder someone high spirit," I muttered.
I went out of my seat as I made way for Kellen. Lee's face was expressionless. Whether she didn't care who her partner was or I didn't know since I couldn't decipher what was in her head.
Kellen, on the other hand, grinned from ear to ear.
At least he got to sit with her.
Wait, what about me? No partner?
"And the last Winter and Rey." She called out. "Please find a seat." She added.
Oh no, and yes permeated into my brain.
Oh no, He would have the opportunity to stare at me even more.
We would not be during much work, probably staring would be the title of our project.
Yes! I got to sit with him.
My crush since freshman year. I had wanted this from the onset. My heart skipped a beat as he moved closer. His gaze had now lost the intensity and in its place was a flirty smirk that wasn't directed at me. My heart crashed as I saw who it was for.
She didn't seem to mind, though. Instead, she wrote something on a piece of paper and threw it in his direction. He opened it and I saw her number scribbled in it.
My gaze flickered between both of them, wondering why they were sending notes and exchanging numbers with each other.
"Quit, spacing out Winnie the pooh," Rey said.
I scowled at him and proceeded to correct him."My name is Winter. Call me Winnie, Winty or Minty but not Winnie the Pooh."
"I know your name and I prefer calling you Winnie the Pooh." He said, smirking.
From being a broody b***h to flirty and playful. That was Rey all in one. Sometimes, he acts so normally whilst sometimes he acts like he left his senses at home.
I so much desire to wipe the smirk off his face but I settled with glaring at him.
"Why?"
"It makes the name cuter." He winked which made me turn red.
Did he just call me cute or was I just assuming?
In your dreams Miss!
He said your name, not you dumbass.
Ugh, stupid mind!
"Quit spacing out Pooh," Rey's breath was warm against my ears. I shivered at the feelings it incited in me.
"You know a picture would last longer."
"Jerk," I mumbled, jerking away from him.
"The project should fill at least ten A4 papers, spiral bind it and you're to submit in a month. Any questions?" Miss Kyle added.
Allysa raised her hand as I turned. She builds a bridge with her bag in between her and her partner and makes a disgusted face as he touches it. She brought out a wipe from her pink Chanel purse to wipe it.
Miss Kyle gestured for her to speak.
"What if we don't like the partner assigned to us?" She said as she threw the wipe in the wastebasket close by.
Miss Kyle sighed and moved away from her desk. The grey contact she fixed made her even more beautiful. "It's just for a month. I'm sorry you have to endure and who knows you might get to like him."
"Ewww." Allysa wrinkled her nose moving further away from him.
Will hung his head staring at the desk.
"Yes, Dania, " Miss Kyle pointed to a pale skin girl with tinted blonde hair.
Another question from Allysa's sidekick.
"What if we don't submit the assignment on time?" She asked, whilst giggling.
Very dumb.
"It's a zero for you and your partner, young lady."
Dania sat down with a scowl etched on her face. Good for her as she thinks she could skip the assignment as she misses classes most of the time.
"The topic of the assignment will be communicated to you shortly." The bell rang as Miss Kyle finished.
The class was filled with chitchat of what the topic could be.
I prayed it would be an easy one. Any topic was fine by me, I was smart but my partner is smarter and together we would work it out.
"Hey pooh,"
I mock glared at him as he once cartoonize my name. He shrugged and snickered which made me want to punch his flawless face.
Idiot.
I should be pissed but I was pleased because he was f**king talking to me. Also, he wasn't all that bad like how he wanted people to see him. Okay, maybe he was with the way I heard he used girls but they always wanted it.
"Meet me after prac..."
I didn't let him finish as I answered him, "Nope." I prompted, popping the P.
"You wouldn't want to get zero now, would you?" He murmured, loud enough for me to hear. He grinned, carrying his backpack from the desk.
"Jerk!" The class wasn't as empty as I thought. They gazed at me with their eyebrows raised and an inquisitive look on their faces as I yelled at his back.
Turning to Lee, the same inquisitive expression appeared on her face. I shrugged and didn't utter any words as we stepped out.
