In the meantime, I got hungry and decided to go to the cafe for something to eat.
I found the cafe in no time. Since it is only a small village, everything is close together.
I choose a table by the window. As soon as I sit down a waitress arrives.
"Hello, welcome to The Hunt, what can I get you?" She asks super friendly.
"Hi, I would like to have some food, can I have the menu please." I ask.
"Of course one moment." She smiles briefly and walks away. I look around a bit, it looks cozy. Just like a local cafe that you often see in movies.
Small tables, a few sitting areas, an L-shaped bar and a small stage have been built in the back corner.
The waitress came back and gave me the menu. "Would you like a drink?" She asked.
"A Coke, please." And she was gone.
I looked at the menu, it wasn't very elaborate. A few salads, some simple sandwiches, and a few kinds of pasta.
The waitress returned with my drink and looks questioning at me. "I don't think I've seen you here before. And usually, I'm good with faces. Are you new here?"
I smile. "Yeah right. I arrived yesterday, I'm staying at the hotel. And before you ask, I don't know how long I'll be staying." And I smile politely at her. "I sort of ran away from my ex-boyfriend." I don't know why but she's easy to talk to.
She gives me a sympathetic smile. "sorry to hear that. Men are so stupid sometimes." She rolled her eyes.
"Yeah, tell me about it." I say laughing. "I'm Jady, I have to work until 8 o'clock tonight but if you want a drink after that you have to come. I can introduce you to some people."
Pam was right, the people here are very friendly indeed.
"I would like that. My name is Haily." I answer.
"Nice to meet you Haily, so do you want something to eat?"
I look at the map again. "I think I'll go for the carpaccio salad."
"Excellent choice, coming right up." She smiles and walks away again.
It don't take long before my salad arrives. I quietly ate my salad and thought about what I wanted.
I quickly made up my mind that I wasn't going back anyway. But was staying the best option? Maybe I should call my aunt after all. It had to happen anyway, I hadn't told her I'd left town yet. She must be glad that Kevin and I broke up. She didn't think much of him.
I decided to go back to the hotel and call my aunt. "See you tonight Jady!" I shouted to her.
When I arrive at the hotel Pam is standing at the counter. "Hey hun, how was your walk?" she asks.
"Hey Pam, it was okay. I went to the bookshop for a while. Monique offered me a job. Since I've been getting almost no assignments lately, I accepted it. I will have to pay for the room if I stay longer. " I tell honestly. She smiles.
"That's nice, and Monique is such a lovely woman." She says.
"Yeah, I thought so too, anyway after that I went to eat something in the cafe and already made a kind of friend, Jady. I'm going to have a drink with her tonight."
"Jady? Oh, I know her. She's a wolf too." She says.
"Really? Does anyone else besides you and Dean know I'm Jason's mate?" I ask. She thinks for a moment. "No, I don't think so. And as long as you haven't decided anything yet, I would leave it that way." She replies.
"Yeah, I think that's for the best. Thanks. I'm going upstairs. It's time I called my aunt." I sigh.
I walk to my room and sit on the bed.
Ugh, okay here we go. I think as the phone rings. After a few times, she picks up.
Aunt Ella: Hey Haily, how nice of you to call! It's been a long time.
Me: Hi Aunt Ella, yeah I know, sorry. Bit busy lately. How are you? How is Ethan?
Aunt: I understand sweetheart. All is well here, Ethan is busy. Our Alpha has decided that there should be more training and because he is the Gamma he has to do the training. You really should come by again. The kids are missing you.
Me: Yeah, I know. I promise to come soon. Maybe that will do me good too.
Aunt: Doing good? What's going on sweety? Is it Kevin?
Me: Yeah eh.. well the thing is... I broke up whit him. That m*therf*cker cheated! With my so-called best friend.
Aunt: You are kidding me? Where's that *sshol? I'm sending Ethan after him! You just have to say it.
Me: Haha, thanks Aunti, but it's not necessary. I also have no idea where he is now and I don't care. Everyone knew but they didn't say anything. I really couldn't be near them. I've left town. I am now in a small town. Westville.
Aunt: Yeah I get that, I wouldn't want that either. Westville you say? Sounds familiar. Wait a second.
There is silence on the other end of the line.
Aunt: Be careful there, Ethan says there's a Pack there too.
Me: Yeah, I know. It's the Blue Lake pack. I've come across a few. The owner of the hotel and her brother are part of it. Dean, the brother, is the Gamma. That's another reason why I called I'm the mate of their Alpha, Jason.
Aunt: Are you joking?! That is amazing. You always wanted that.
It was quiet for a while.
Aunt: Why does it sound like you don't like it right now?
Me: Because I'm not sure if I like it that much. I just got here, I don't even know if I want to stay here. And Kevin hurt me so much, I don't know if I'm ready to be in a relationship again. I was happy to be single for a while. And what if he doesn't think I'm not good enough because I'm human. I just don't know. What do you think I should do?
My aunt sighs and there is silence for a while.
Aunt: Sweety, I can't tell you what to do. If you don't think you're ready, tell him. That you need time. He will understand. And he is your mate, he will do anything to make you happy.
Me: Yeah maybe, I'll think about it. Thank you.
Aunt: You'll figure it out. Listen, I gotta go, the kids need me. I love you, I'll call you next week okay.
Me: Yeah okay, tell everyone I said hi, I love you too.
I hang up and let myself fall back on the bed.
