Am I hearing this right? Is he really asking me on a date? "Sorry what?"
"Do you want to go on a date with me on Saturday?" He asks. I'm speechless for a moment. Everything in me tells me to say yes. Only my head says no. How am I supposed to get over Kevin if I don't give myself time to do that. Is that fair to Jason? "Haily?" I'm startled out of my thoughts. He grabs my hand.
"A date?" I stammer.
"Sorry, if it's too soon, just tell me."
"No, you surprised me a little, I would love to go on a date with you."
A broad smile appears on his face. "That makes me very happy." He says happily and gives me a small kiss. "Is Saturday okay for you?"
"Yes, I think I can." I say with a smile. "Okay, if you give me your number, I can let you know what time I'm coming to pick you up."
"Oh yeah, I'll text you." I had already saved his number when he gave me his card the first time I saw him. He looks at me questioningly when I send a text message. "You gave me your number the first time at the hotel, remember."
"I know, just didn't know you already had it saved." he says with a smile. "So... I think I should go inside. Thank you, for the nice evening. See you Saturday?"
"My pleasure, I'm looking forward to it." He says with a big smile. I get a little kiss and then he walks away.
I walk in and go straight to my room. I let myself fall on the bed. A wide grin appears on my face. Saturday I have a date with Jason! I think enthusiastically. OMG, what should I wear?! Okay okay, take it easy. I say to myself. First, take a shower and after that, call Aunt Ella.
When I call Aunt Ella, she answers quickly.
Aunt: "Hey Haily, how are you?"
Me: "Hi auntie, yeah I'm okay."
Aunt: "Today was your first day at the bookstore, how was it?"
Me: "Yes, it was okay. I helped a few customers. Monique asked if I want to write a blog for her website. I'm looking forward to that."
Aunt: "Oh, that really sounds like something for you. And have you talked to Jason yet?"
Me: "Yes I did... I did what you said. Told him I need a little more time and I'm not ready for another relationship."
Aunt: "And how did he react?"
Me: "Pretty good actually. I also said that it doesn't mean that I don't want to see him at all. I thought, we can at least get to know each other."
Aunt: "That's a good idea, did he like that?"
Me: "Yes he did. I ran into him today when I was done with work, we had dinner together... And he asked me on a date!"
Aunt: "Since you sound so happy and excited I assume you said yes?"
Me: "Yes, I thought a date wouldn't hurt, and who knows, maybe it will help me. Anyway, now I have to think about what I'm going to wear. Clearly, I want to look nice."
Aunt: "Hahaha, I'd just wear something you feel comfortable in. He'll probably think you're gorgeous anyway."
Me: "Hmm, the date is Saturday so luckily I still have some time to think about it. Thank you Aunt Ella. I have to go, tomorrow is another day in the store."
Aunt: "Okay honey, good luck tomorrow. Talk to you soon."
Before I go to sleep I read some more. Soon I feel my eyes getting heavier and I decided to just go to sleep. I quickly fall asleep and my dreams are filled with Jason and his wonderful body.
