Luna Heart

Chapter 1

Luna's eyes snapped open as she checked the time and saw she was running late for work, trying to hasten her daughter up and at the same time clean up as she packed her bag. She was muti tasking to finish on time.

“Oh jeez, Mr. Julian hates lateness” she said to herself as she wore her shoes.

“Ava, don't open the door for anybody, I'll get your favorite chocolate on my way back, OK” she said as she gave her daughter a hug and pecked her on the cheeks. Her daughter bid her goodbye as she left. Luna locked the door. She walked down the street because her house was secluded from everybody else. She waved her hand to get a taxi and got to work extremely late. As she was alighting, Julian saw her and from the way he stared at her, she knew she was in big trouble. “Oh, gosh, I'm dead” she said to herself as she turned back to greet him, but she was trembling, as usual Emily came to her rescue, “how are you feeling now, are you better” Emily said, trying to hug Luna. Julian just walked past, Luna breathed a sigh of relief, and she blew a kiss to Emily and walked down to her office and prepared herself for the day. On the other hand, she was thinking about her child because she had left her all alone at home and, as she was lost in her thoughts, Julian walked in. He tapped the table twice but no response.

“Hey young lady, are you done?” He said, snapping his fingers close to her ear because she didn't hear him tapping the table. Luna looked at him with shock, wondering when he entered and with that same shock she stood up and was stammering, asking him “sir, is there anything I can help you with”

Julian looked at her in shock because she's not always forgetful. “Have you forgotten we have a meeting in about 10 mins, are you my secretary, or I'm the secretary because you're beginning to get forgetful nowadays, is anything bothering you?” He asked with a little care, she ignored and hurriedly got prepared for the meeting as Julian sat on the visitors chair. “Are you ready?” Julian asked. Luna nodded her head in agreement.

As they got to the meeting, Julian noticed they'd proceeded without him. He turned to Luna and gave her an annoyed look. Luna hastened her pace and tried to catch up with Julian. He pushed the door open and went straight to his seat and as he was going all the board members stood up to greet him and as he sat down so did everyone. Luna stood by his side as his secretary. The meeting lasted for an hour and everyone was dismissed, but Julian and Luna were the only ones left because Luna had to round up things with Julian and as they were discussing the next day's plan Seraphine walked in and with disgust in her eyes for Luna, she walked straight to Julian “hey baby, aren't you done you promised to take me out today, what are you doing with this lowlife, hey will you leave” she said hissing at Luna and turned to Julian.

Luna had to stand up to leave. Julian commanded Luna to sit, “Young lady, you don't have a say in my business” he said, showing her the way out. “When I'm done I'll let you know” Seraphine's hatred for Luna grew as she walked out. “So he chooses her over me, it's not his fault though, it's just a matter of time you'll soon touch my toes to beg me” she said to herself as she walked out.

“Hurry up, it's late” Julian said, turning his head to Luna, “I'm almost done sir” she said, packing her things and getting ready to head home. She checked her time and thought silently “Ava is the only one at home, she'll be worried sick about me” as she rushed down to the supermarket close to her workplace. “I promised her chocolate, I must not forget” she said to herself. As she came out of the supermarket she saw Julian coming out of the office. She waved her hand to get a taxi but to no avail, Julian drove right in front of her, “Get inside, it's late. You won't see any taxis by this time”, she entered because the only thought in her mind was to get to her daughter. “It's fine Sir”, Luna said calmly. Julian looked at her in shock. “You are staying in this secluded environment”, Luna alighted and expressed her gratitude by saying Thank you, and she turned to leave. Julian drove off knowing fully well she ignored the question, but he didn't care. Luna hastened her pace, as she got to her doorstep, she searched her bag to get her house key, but she couldn't find it, so she just had to breathe in and out, trying to calm down and checked for the key which she found. “Ava!!! Ava!! Ava!” Luna called out to her as she entered. Ava ran down the stairs but as she got to the bottom she tripped and fell, “ouch, my leg” she cried out. Luna dropped everything with her and went to her, carrying her to the chair. I told you to stop running now you've sprained your ankle, “I'm sorry mum, I was just so excited to see you” she said “wait mum, it doesn't hurt anymore” she said as Ava stood up to show her. “Hm another power unlocked again” Luna said as she played with her hair and reached out to her bag to give her what she got, “well, as promised” she said as Ava gave her a tight hug. “Let's go get something to eat boo” she said as they both walked to the kitchen as Luna stretched, “Mum you're tired, don't forget you're teaching me today” Ava whined
