1. The beginning

Lucy´s PoV 17 years ago ”Lucy, you have to go to this party, everyone who is anything is coming, so we have to make ourselves seen.” Maddie, my best friend for years, was trying to coax me into going to a party. Sadly, I was not in the mood for anything, seeming I only ever ended up as the weird third wheel. “Maddie, I don’t feel like it, anyway you are going to disappear the second you see Jackson,” I said, lifting an eyebrow. He was her boyfriend and has been for 2 years. She blushed, “Yeah, he is so dreamy, don't you think? Oh my god do you think he will like what I wear,” she rambled, “anyway Lucy (I sighed, she didn't want to let this go.) Oh, that reminds me one of Jacksons best and oldest friends is coming over Andrew, Anders. Or was it Tony? Anyway, it was something like that.” What she said and that caught my attention, “You mean Anthony?” she hopped up and down in glee and smirked “oh girl I know that look, you are so coming with me.” She stated, I was h*llbend on not to give in to her, but Anthony, he was an urban legend around here even if he was only one year older than us, between him and his 2 brothers who was twins it was commonly known that every girl wanted to bed them and even some guys, and every man wanted to be them. They were sizzling hot, like pantydropping, heartmelting hot. They only came to stay here for short periods of time, but every time there was a big commotion. “Please, Maddie, give me a break. I know he is hot, I have eyes, but he is much better suited for Dina, and you know people like those are genetically imprinted to find each other. Why even bother to try to talk to him?” I asked. “Lucy, will you please just stop come; I promise we will be out of there when you start to get bored.” She pleaded. And I sighed just wanting to stop her, “all right then, let's go, but I promise you it will only be shortlived.” She squealed in excitement. “I promise you it will be great. Just you wait and see.” It turned out to go exactly how I anticipated. A few minutes after we arrived, Maddie fell in the arms of Jackson, leaving me to fend for myself. I was standing on the outskirts of the party when I first saw him. It was like looking at gold in a goldmine, he was wearing brown boots, fashionably faded blue jeans, a white shirt and a brown leather jacket, even if it was a bit too warm to wear a jacket. His black hair tousled and his dominant jaw in what seemed like a scowl. I saw Dina approach him. She put her hands on his chest and looked up at him through her eyelashes as she batted them and shook her hair. She had pulled out every weapon in the book to seduce him, but he looked down at her with nothing but disdain as he brushed her off. He walked away from her, leaving her fuming, and he joined who I thought was his twin brothers, as they were almost as gorgeous as him. I shook my head, before I went inside where I ended up on a coach bored to the core. I was thinking about a plausible reason to leave without being rude, but it generally seemed like everybody else was having a good time. “Not your pick, for an outing” a deep masculine voice whispered in my ears from behind. And the scent of pine and dark rum mixed inside my head, making me shiver. I turned my head, shocked to see Anthony standing right behind the couch looking down at me. I flew up in surprise, “what me? No! I am having a blast.” I blabbed, and I saw his face draw out in a smirk. “Would you like to go outside with me? I promise I don't bite” he asked, and I was a bit beside myself. “Uhm why me? I think Dina would love it..” I started, but what sounded like a growl coming from him made me stop. “I know Dina would love to do it, but I am asking you, if I wanted her, I would have asked her!” he growled. That surprised me. It was not that I was unpopular, but I have never been the one guys turned to for companionship, more like tutoring. “Okay, okay, I am sorry it was not my intention to disrespect you. I was just surprised, but yes, I would love to go outside with you.” I said, even if I was a bit confused still. We walked outside while talking about nothing, just making the time pass by. “So how come you came to Sanguine Village? Not to pry, just curious.” I asked him. “Yes, we have moved here for the summer. We are currently the owners of this house. Jackson and his parents just stayed here, but my parents decided we would go back, at least for this summer vacation. You could call this a housewarming party.” “And since mum had no idea who our friends were the last time we were here, she figured she would just invite everyone from high school. Assuming we would be close to their age.” He stopped looking a bit sheepish. “It's okay, it's actually a good idea, so everyone has the choice not to come, simply because they don’t want to, not because the hosts thought they weren't important enough to get an invite.” I said and instantly blushed when I figured out what I was saying, it sounded almost like I was one of those who normally wouldn't get an invitation. I turned away, immediately trying to hide myself. “Don’t hide away from me, uuhmm” he fumbled, and suddenly I became aware that he probably wasn't aware of my name “Lucy”, I said to him. “ Yes Luna, I am sorry, my first question should have been your name. But to answer your question, this is just our way, and my mother is a true master at party planning and will use every chance to have guests,” He said, and I couldn't help to laugh. “You have a beautiful laughter” he said. We talked back and forth the rest of the night, and since Maddie was busy doing whatever unspeakable thing she could think about with Jackson, I figured why bother her, I could simply walk home, but Anthony came through and asked to follow me home, which I greatly accepted. He was a true joy to be around. When we reached my porch, he leaned in and kissed me on the cheeks. I was quickly beginning to hope that it would lead further, but he was the perfect gentleman (and even someplace in my hormone-plagued brain, a voice kept telling me you only know what he had told me tonight along with the gossip in town, and even if he was s*x on legs, I was going to take it slow, besides it could soon be over). He drew back and tugged my back behind my ear. “Before I go, can I get your number? I know I could probably wrangle it from Jackson, but I would prefer it if you gave it to me willingly,” he said. “Of course, I answered and he gave me his phone, and looked at me when I drew mine from my purse and handed it over to him. We exchanged numbers. He took a step back and looked at me, “Goodnight Lucy, and thanks for a great night.” I was wondering what would happen, i saw him as he went and looked back and winked.
