Vanessa's parents had gone over the basement plans with her the night before, giving their stamp of approval on her initial notes for the contractor. Sitting at the kitchen table, she wiped her sweaty palms on her jeans while she went over the floor plan again. She was also ready with photos and swatches for flooring and paint, but wasn't sure if he would need that already. Originally, she envisioned a white-washed wide plank floor, but her parents had shut it down, citing the risk of flooding if there happened to be a strong storm.
