Sammy’s memory
The cold winter air gusted though the busted windshield, with chills down my back I awoke in panic mode, I’m alive? Accessing the situation and my whereabouts I called 911, an easy thirty minute from town I knew I had to get out and see if the other driver was okay. “911 what’s your emergency?” The dispatcher asked, My name is Sammy I’m a nurse, there has been a two car accident on Creek Road. “Is everyone okay” the dispatcher asked, I’m okay, I’m not sure about the other driver yet, we’re off the side of the bank somewhere, please dispatch EMS. “Sammy I’m not sure what the ETA will be, with your coordinated you about thirty minutes from town, but considering road conditions and the other calls that we have dispatched it may take the medics a little longer to locate you.” The dispatcher replied with a worried tone.” I understand, I will do my best to make sure the other driver is safe. Ending the call I knew what I had to do. The feeling of warm blood trickled down me face, I thought to myself okay Sammy, you have got to get out of this car. When my car stopped rolling down the embankment it finally came to rest on its side, if I can just pull myself up I can get over the dash and though the windshield. I wasn’t going to lie to myself, I knew this was going to be a challenge since I had added a numerous amount of weight over the last eight months and was to nauseous to work out anymore, I pushed my new limitations to the back of my mind as I struggled to lift myself out of the busted windshield. As I eased myself onto the snow covered bank I automatically realized the discomfort I was having in my left leg, I looked up at the other smashed up car and noticed that there was a car seat sitting in the back seat on the driver side, I automatically jumped up from where I was sitting and tried to run towards the car, the snow under my feet was causing me to slide and made the pain in my leg nearly unbearable, as I was In reaching distance of the car I tried to pry the back door open, but it wasn’t budging I looked though the window and saw another car seat with two babies in them both fast asleep. I slid down to the drivers door and noticed a white male, with dark hair, his appearance looked familiar to me but I didn’t have time to think about who this man was. The car was smashed against a tree, which was giving it some support for balance, but the condition that the car was in I knew it wouldn’t be long before the car was engulfed in flames, I grabbed the knife my grandfather had given me for my graduation that had the glass breaker on the other end. I smashed the glass out and grabbed the first baby out of the car seat wrapped her in a blanket that had been thrown into the floorboard and sat her on the ground. “I’m so sorry baby, as soon as I get the others out I will pick you up I promise, I then reached over the car seat snd unbuckle the other car seat, and got her safely out of the car as well. “okay babies your both safe and together.” Now let’s get your daddy out.
