Episode 1 - The Trigger
It felt like I had been frozen in time as I stood in the same spot for what felt like hours. My hair was still moist, dripping with the same thick, warm substance that clasped the rest of my petite figure. My eyes still hovering over the disaster that lay before my feet. The beauty of the emerald green forest was unmatched in every aspect. And yet, I had ruined this masterpiece within seconds of stepping foot on the freshly grown moss that laced the forest floor. I Anna Jamison, a nineteen-year-old college graduate, had lashed out with no warning except for the shivering howl that caused my bones to rattle. And what graced the forest floor afterward was something I never thought I would be capable of doing. Someone who could reach out and offer death’s hand to a woodland creature I didn’t even know existed. I had drawn out the last breath of a fairy. I never meant to hurt this innocent creature, but that howl had caused me to run, not caring what was in my path. It was an accident, but all accidents happen for a reason, and I was about to find out what fate had in store for me.
As the little creature’s light faded into darkness, what I heard next was, even more, frightening than crushing a fairy underneath my foot—the ear-shattering snap of my left femur which brought me to my knees. The peacefully sleeping forest was awakened by each bone in my body, snapping in on itself and then healing again.
What was causing this? What is happening?
A million questions raced through my mind but yet no answers were found. I felt lost and vulnerable, unsure of what to do next. I was scared and wished I could find some answers. As the pain finally subsided, I felt a sense of peace and graciously welcomed the pestering slumber to which my body needed. But as I was trying to shut my eyes, a wolf with midnight grey fur and the brightest emerald green eyes appeared. I only saw the wolf for a minute, but I had a feeling when I looked into its eyes, that I would be safe. Then my eyes fully closed, and I gently drifted off to sleep.
