Mikel's POV I walked in and out of the building looking for Kevin. He didn't say anything and just walked out after he received a call. There are a lot of papers that I need to sign for him, which are also about his mom's project. I don't know about this project, but he mentioned that it's all about donation building. Kevin asked me and Victoria to come with him to their hometown, Nissan, to finally pursue her mom's project. Last year, her mom visited here and proposed the project, but Kevin rejected it because we had an ongoing big project at that time. Finally, he decided to work on it. As I recall, my grandma lived in Nissan. And the problem is that I am avoiding her presence because she will just brag about having a wife or girlfriend. Kevin doesn't know that I used to live there. I visited there once because my cousin, Rico, was fond of racing cars and decided to trade his mustangs to me after he defeated me. Yup, he was defeated and I got his mustang. I already sold it a long time ago.Kevin and I met each other in college because we took the same course and we had the same interest. Later that day, we became best friends and associates. The door opens and there is Victoria, walking towards me, holding a pile of papers. "Where's Kevin?" she asked, and slightly put the papers on Kevin's table. We are in Kevin's office, and I'm pretty sure she's also looking for him. "I don't know either. Did you see him? " "Yes, I saw him leave the building, but he never returned." Her brown eyes gaze at me, then avoid me again. She's wearing her usual office outfit. white long-sleeved and black skirt. She wore a blazer a while ago, but I think she removed it because of the intense meeting that we had. We had a meeting with our contracted company a while ago about the building that was destroyed. Our money was greatly impacted because we needed to compensate the injured workers. It's the time where Kevin gets a call. He just exited the meeting and never came back. Victoria and I became friends because Kevin introduced her to me. We became partners after we became interns, and now we are business colleagues. She's like a little sister to me. smart and competitive. As we became close, we decided to build our own firm. Hard work and sacrifice are the only things that have gotten us this far.Kevin is the root of all of the hardships. I saw him suffer as he left his family just to settle and make sure to make our dream come true. I can't express how grateful I am to him.He makes us live a luxurious life and makes us feel like a whole family. "Did you have lunch?" She asked and peered at her watch. I grab her arm before she put it down. The watch is the one I gave her on her birthday. I'm glad she wore it. I didn't know if she liked it. I just followed my instincts when choosing it. "Oh,..."She scratched her back a little. You notice it." I always wear it when it's Friday. " She snatched her arm back and avoided my gaze. I rested my back on Kevin's table and looked at her." I'm sorry-I did not notice. Well... It looks good on you. " She smiled thinly and scratched the back of her head again. "Thank you." She looks down. She usually has this mannerism when we are talking. She can't look directly into my eyes; she always looks down and scratches her back. Victoria doesn't talk like this to Kevin. I didn't know if she was still shy about me. She doesn't talk that much to me, and when we're talking, it's always awkward. The door creaks. Both of us look the same at the door. A man's voice murmurs something. His voice is getting clearer as she gets closer. He's like arguing with someone. It is Kevin. He seems to not notice us. "Can't you wait?" I'm doing my best." He lifted his gaze and quickly ended the call. His pissed eyes widened, but quickly faided. He smiled at us and walked over to his chair. Why are you here? Is there something you want to say? ", he looks at Victoria first and teasingly smiles at me. He dragged his chair and sat. "Where have you been?" I rolled my eyes at him and asked directly. We waited for like a whole day and we didn't know if he'd come back. Can't he just tell me if he's going to leave so that I can settle the problems by myself? "I bought some gifts. For my sister, Zia, remember? The one I mentioned to you, "he gave me assurance. Oh-right. Her sister, Nissa, was Yeah, he mentioned it to me way back when. But I didn't see her, even in pictures. Kevin doesn't talk too much about her. But I'm pretty sure he cared about her. I saw her once when they video called for Zia's graduation. After the call ends, Kevin starts to sob. At that point, I knew there were two reasons for Kevin to be sad or happy. It's either us or her sister. He always put others first before himself. That's one of the reasons I hate him; he's so selfless and caring. "Correct-What's her reaction when you finally plan to work on your mom's project?" I asked curiosly. Her sister is the most annoying girl I've ever known in the world. She always texts Kevin wherever we are. For the same reason and intention, she wants Kevin to come home. I couldn't blame her; Kevin lingers too much in this city. I didn't even notice him going home for vacation. Kevin smiled widely as she picked up the paper on the table. "She can't wait to see me. I'm excited to see her also, but I need you to travel first". My eyes widened as he said those words. What is he talking about? We didn't talk about this. I also saw Victoria getting shocked about Kevin's statement. What's the sudden change of plan? "What are you saying?" Victoria asked, shockedly, and gazing at Kevin in confusion. Kevin didn't bother to look at us and kept reading the papers. I forgot to tell you that I mistakenly booked Kevin for tomorrow. He stared at me, looking guilty, and put down the paper." I know what you're thinking. I just-", "It's fine. It would be a waste of money if we canceled the flight. What could go wrong, right? ", I smile thinly and tap his shoulder. There's so much money we lost just a while ago, and I couldn't stand another bit of money getting wasted. I'm used to travelling, and I've also been there at Nissan. What could go wrong? And besides, I have a fully paid condo there. It's a waste of money if I don't use it.
