Renee
I ran and hid behind the table. Trying to glance, I couldn't see the people because they had ski masks on.
"Ok. You know what we came for."
The voice sounded familiar. I walked out with my hands on my head and stood up and they seen me.
"Renee ?"
"What Brianna and Rodrick ?"
"I'm not trying to fuss over it now. We need Avery. He tried to leave without making his sale."
"What ?" everyone said in unision.
"Yes. Avery is a drug dealer."
Everyone oohed and looked at Avery. He just glared at them while his mother was crying loudly.
"Look what you did Brianna. Always trying to mess up something. This is our graduation. Now both of you get out and let us continue."
"No."
"Look at this guys. Brianna likes fights. This is how you get beat. Rodrick take her with you. Avery will come after the graduation.
"Ok."
"Rodrick, I told you I am not leaving."
"You lucky I'm pregnant. 'Cause if I wasn't, Lord."
I felt a stinging pain on my face. Did she just slap me ? Everyone had shocked expressions on their faces.
I punched her in the face making her fall backwards and her boots hit my stomach. Hard. I graoned in pain and everyone came running to me.
Feeling through my dress, something moist was running through it. I don't if it was sweat or blood.
"Jim take me to the hospital. Now. There might be something wrong with the baby."
After arriving to the hospital, I kept feeling dizzy and dizzy by the second. Jim noticed and I fell unconscious on the floor.
Jim
No, no, no. This can't be happening. This is my first child and I'm not losing it now.
Hours and hours passed and no sign of what was going on. I had my head in my hands and silently cried not letting my mom see me.
"Jim, it is going to be fine."
"No. It. Is. Not."
"Just pray and believe that everything will be okay."
Then a doctor came out and looked on the board. Just standing there looking confused.
"Family of Renee Payne ?"
"We right here."
"She lost a lot of blood. I'm sorry but she lost the baby."
"No. No. No. She couldn't have."
"Sir, apparently she was hit in the stomach. We removed the baby. Sorry to break it to you like this."
My mom hugged me and I broke down in her chest. This was something serious. I just lost my first child.
"Can we see her ?" my mom said silently.
"Yes. Follow me."
Walking in the room, Renee was sleeping peacefully. I sat down in the chair and still cried. This can't be happening.
Brianna
"What did I tell you about leaving ?"
"I had a graduation today. Plus, my 3-week vacation isn't up yet."
"Now it is."
"This is not fair. Now can I see Renee ? Your dumbass put her in the hospital."
I slapped him for talking to me like that. I was like a second mother to Avery so he had to respect me.
"What is wrong with you ?"
"Respect me at all times."
"What are you going to do if he doesn't, Brianna ?"
I turned around and seen Avery's mom with a group with women with guns in their hand and Rodrick at gunpoint.
"How did they get in here ?"
"Don't worry about that, Brianna. Have the nerve to take my son and try to kill Renee."
"You are not taking my son."
"That is your son. You was pregnant for nine months. Pushing this big head boy out for 14 hours."
Jim mom came and pointed her gun at me and I presses a button and the rest of the group came in and started shooting. This is going to be a long night.
Renee
'Renee, something bad has happened. But I can't tell you.'
'Please tell me.'
'Sorry. I can't.'
'Who is going to tell me then ?'
'Jim and the doctors.'
'I'm scared.'
'Don't be. I have to go. In time.'
'Bye grandpa.'
My eyelids slowly opened and the doctors stood over me waiting for me to wake up.
"Jim? Where is he ?"
"Right here."
"Grandpa said something bad happened ? What happened ? Avery is dead ?"
"Dr. I think there is something still wrong with her."
"No it is not, ma'am. I hate to say this, but you lost the baby."
"How ?"
"You were hit in the stomach badly."
"Watch when I see Brianna. It's about to go down."
"Don't worry. Everybody went after them already. Even my momma."
"I hear that. When can I have another child ?"
"In a few months."
"Okay."
The door burst open and Jim mom came in with a scratch on her arm. Uh oh.
"Oh look, Renee is up. Hi, I'm Jim mom."
"Nice to meet you, Ms. Hawkins."
"Oh please call me Joyce."
"Ok. What happened to your arm ?"
"Let's just say an outburst happened and we did what we had to do."
"Ok."
Brianna came with a bruised face. I guess she has something to say. She tried to speak but Avery mom hit her.
"I-I-I am sorry for kil-killing your b-ba-baby Renee."
"That is not going to bring it back. But apology accepeted. Now leave."
She was pushed out the door and cops took her and Rodrick. Avery came in and hugged me.
"I missed you."
"You too. I heard about what happened. Sorry."
"It's okay. Now to that graduation."
"Can she leave, doctor ?"
"Yes just sign this release forms."
They washed my dress and we made to the graduation. I stood in the back and listened.
"Sorry about the outburst last time. Now I call Renee Payne."
I walked up and everyone was shocked but clapped as I took my stuff. Taking a bow, they called the next name.
This is a graduation that will be memorable. So much has happened. I will never forget this day.
