Chapter 10 – Not a Chance 2

Chapter 10 – Not a Chance 2 * * * Did he mess up? My camera is supposed to be rigged, so how come it began to show this kind of image? And what’s more, in the most important scene, that I could use to throw John inside the prison cell. This felt like an extension of my luck or a calm before the storm. Or, maybe, a trap that John perfectly laid out to let him capture me for real. However, no matter how feasible that plan is, I can’t understand why he needs to be naked inside my former castle. He is walking like he owns the place and ended up using my bed. I felt disgusted when he rubbed his body on my sheet and buried his head in my pillow. It is now a mystery to me how I failed to see another strand of his sickening strand of pubic hair. He has been parading his nakedness like that and there is no way that only one or two strands will fall from him. This guy might have been a clean freak as well for cleaning all those pieces of evidence. However, his disgusting passion will end now. I feel sorry for my landlady, but I could never forgive a man like John. He invaded my privacy and destroyed what I have. Sorry, John, since I won’t be sorry the moment I saw you crying inside the prison bar. “Hi, Officer. I would like to report a stalker. He is currently at my house.” I want to make my report short, but the officer who handled it has decided to take things slowly. Our conversation felt like an eternity as I bit my thumb until it bled. And the moment we stopped the call, my fingers immediately went back to my phone to watch John. I can’t let him off the hook now that I have the evidence. The clueless man that was being shown on the screen brought a smile to my face. Just a little bit more. All I need is to wait for a little bit more to teach him the lesson that he deserved. * * * “You should’ve told me. How could you do this to me and my son after all the kindness I showed you?” I was baffled by Lucy’s words, but what she is saying makes sense from a mother’s perspective. I finally filed a complaint against John, and my landlady is obviously with me trying to change my mind until the last minute. However, no matter how grateful I am to her, the fact that her son is a criminal will never change. Listening to her words and showing mercy to John are two different things. My empathetic side will never be pulled by this kind of reasoning. “I don’t have any evidence until last night, Lucy. Also, I heard from the officer that the other tenants will file the same complaint since he has been doing it to almost everyone.” Anger. Rejection. Sadness. Those emotions all registered on Lucy’s face. I feel sorry for her, for having a son like John, but teaching him a lesson is the best that I can offer in this situation. “I will take him to the countryside. That will teach him a lesson. Just please, just this once, a criminal record in his name will not do my son any good.” See! This is what I’m talking about. She is not even going to give the rightful punishment to John. A trip to the countryside? That is more like a vacation or a new place to start his stalking hobby. That kind of choice won’t change anything. “My decision is final, Lucy. I am sorry for you, but I will never regret sending your son to his proper place.” I turned my back and turned deaf to the wailing woman. Our relationship ended after I signed the last date of my lease and whatever follows after that is nothing between two strangers. For now, my greatest concern would be to transfer all my things to my new abode. * * * The dark and cold night welcomed me after I stepped out of the shop. Everything returned to normal after I moved to my new apartment. Lucy kept on throwing sharp gazes at me until the last day, but it was worth all the trouble when I finally settled in. A life free from any kind of intruder. I love the peace that my new life has brought to me. John’s story ended without much trouble, and I couldn’t be more thankful than that. All those sleepless nights had been repaid properly. “Ada.” It was soft, yet it was able to wake me up from my little daydream. The cold air turned even colder when I saw from the distance the man that I was trying to bury in my mind. I spoke too soon. This can’t be. I’m positive that I will be able to go back to my normal life. This couldn’t be happening the soonest as I settled into my new home. “What are you doing here, John?” I can’t be mistaken about this man’s identity. That built and that voice. No matter how dark it is, there is no way that I will easily forget this perverted stalker. An exhibitionist dressed in a gentleman’s skin. “Aren’t you pleased to see me? Don’t be like that. You are the first person that I look forward to seeing right after my mother bailed me out of prison.” So that is what happened. His crime is bailable after all, and there is no doubt that Lucy will choose to free her only son despite his sin. A stupid mother’s love unbefitting of the situation. A car passed our location, and I was unable to see the angry grin on John’s face. The image shown on my face brought a dangerous spark that told me to run away. He might be talking softly, but John had long abandoned his friendly disposition to my way. “Don’t get near me. You know what will happen should you try to do anything stupid in here.” “I know… However, what if no one saw the stupidity that I would do? Right, Ms. Surveillance Girl?” “Help! Help! Help!” It was a rather desperate attempt, but I was left with no choice when John started running my way. I could only shout as loudly as I could while I dragged my body along the way. Faster and faster. I could feel his presence getting nearer behind me and that scared the hell out of my wits. “Ada! Do you really think that you can escape me? Not a chance, baby. I will drag you back to my apartment. That place is my kingdom, and you are a part of my harem. I own you.” Is he insane? I could certainly pity Lucy as I heard the foolish thoughts that John spouted. He needs medical attention. And there is no way that I will let myself be caught by this mentally challenged man. “Help! Help! Help! ...” I did not waste my time talking to John and instead continued pleading for help. Negotiating with a lunatic will never be a fruitful case. I’d rather put my money on my legs than waste my breath on him. “…Kya!” A pathetic shriek escaped from my lips when John managed to grab my bag. I almost played the game of tag when I remembered that this was not a robbery case. Due to the unforeseen force, when I let go of the bag, John fell off on the ground with a crashing noise. He looked like he was in a lot of pain, but I did not let that fool the remaining kindness that I have for him. I continued running until I made it to the station. Our little game of tag ended the moment I reached this place. There is no way that he will be able to find me in this place, and I am sure that I put a good distance between us when he fell to the ground. A sigh of relief escaped my lips as I rode the train. My legs felt like they were about to give up when solace dawned on me. The long way home to my new apartment feels like an eternity as I calm the remaining nerves in my body. Reporting him to the police would be the best option, but the fact he could bail out pissed the hell out of me. I reached my apartment while I was still seething with anger. The smell of fresh mint let me realize that I am now safe. I turned on the lights and let my eyes feel the safety that my apartment has to offer. This time, I did not enter my cabinet and weep like a child. I need to report John and at least waste Lucy’s money. My phone was in my bag, but I had a cheap spare inside my house. I immediately went through my things to find it – “Ada, do you need this?” My search was over when I turned around and saw John standing right behind me.
