Lucy’s hysterical shriek filled the room. Calvin remained undisturbed due to the effect of the sleeping pill, while Ada turned into an emotionless doll, unbothered by Lucy’s loud voice.
The moment Ada saw Calvin on the brink of death is the same exact moment that something was erased from her entirety. The young man became devoid of the emotion needed to let Lucy escape.
Her unnecessary good grace almost killed Calvin. That fact made Ada realize how unfair and ugly the world is. Lucy’s action awakened her senses to stop brushing off everything, as if it was natural to be bullied and looked down upon.
