When Isabella Hart is summoned to a lawyer’s office after her father’s death, she expects to hear details about his remaining assets and debts. Instead, she learns a shocking truth that changes her life forever.

Hidden inside her father’s will is an agreement made years ago between the Hart and Blackwood families. The condition is simple but impossible. Isabella must marry Alexander Blackwood, the powerful billionaire heir known throughout New York as the Ice King.

Alexander Blackwood wants nothing to do with the arrangement. Isabella wants even less.

But refusing the marriage would destroy everything both families have built.

Forced into a union neither of them wants, Isabella and Alexander become trapped in a relationship built on resentment, suspicion, and secrets. As they struggle to survive their new reality, an unexpected attraction begins to grow between them.

What neither of them knows is that their marriage was never about business.

Buried deep within the past lies a dark secret connecting their families. Years ago, a terrible crime changed the course of both their lives. Someone manipulated the truth, ruined innocent lives, and ensured that the secret remained hidden.

As old enemies resurface and dangerous truths begin to emerge, Isabella discovers that her father’s will contains more than a marriage clause.

It contains the key to a mystery someone is willing to kill to protect.

In a world where trust is dangerous and love is even more dangerous, Isabella must decide whether the man she was forced to marry is her greatest enemy or her only chance at uncovering the truth.

Episode 1-TheLetter
The ringing of Isabella Hart’s phone broke the silence of the small office. She looked up from the stack of unpaid bills spread across her desk and sighed. Another call. Probably another supplier asking when she would settle an overdue payment. She rubbed her temples before reaching for the phone. “Hello?” “Miss Hart?” The voice on the other end sounded professional and unfamiliar. “Yes, this is Isabella.” “My name is Richard Hale. I am calling from Hale and Associates Law Firm.” Isabella sat up straighter. A law firm? Her stomach tightened immediately. Ever since her father’s death three months ago, unexpected calls had become a normal part of her life. Most of them involved debts. More debts than she ever knew existed. “I see,” she replied carefully. “I am calling regarding your father’s estate.” The knot in her stomach tightened further. “What about it?” “There are some matters concerning Mr. Jonathan Hart’s will that require your immediate attention.” Isabella frowned. “My father’s will?” “Yes.” Her father had never mentioned a will. In fact, he had never spoken much about the future at all. Not before the accident. Not before everything fell apart. She stared at the rain sliding down the office window. Outside, the streets of New York looked cold and gray. Just like they had on the day she buried her father. “What do you need from me?” she asked. “We would like you to attend a meeting tomorrow morning at ten.” “Can this not be discussed over the phone?” “I’m afraid not, Miss Hart.” Something about the lawyer’s tone made her uneasy. Very uneasy. “There are documents that require your presence.” Silence filled the room. Finally, she nodded despite knowing he could not see her. “Fine.” “We look forward to seeing you tomorrow.” The call ended. Isabella lowered the phone slowly. A strange feeling settled in her chest. Her father had been gone for three months. Why was a lawyer only contacting her now? And why did it feel like something was wrong? Very wrong. The next morning arrived too quickly. Isabella barely slept. Her thoughts had spent the entire night chasing possibilities. Perhaps her father had left her some money. Although that seemed unlikely. The business was struggling. The debts were piling up. Every month was becoming harder than the last. Still, she hoped. Hope was free. And lately it was all she could afford. She dressed in a simple cream blouse and black skirt before leaving her apartment. An hour later she stood in front of one of the tallest buildings in Manhattan. The glass structure towered over the surrounding streets. Expensive cars lined the entrance. Everything about the place screamed wealth. She suddenly felt out of place. A girl trying to save a small family business had no reason to be here. Yet somehow she was. Taking a deep breath, she entered. The receptionist greeted her politely before directing her to the top floor. The elevator ride felt endless. By the time the doors opened, her palms were sweaty. A woman led her into a large conference room. The room looked elegant and intimidating. Dark wood furniture. Floor to ceiling windows. Expensive artwork. At the center sat a man in his late fifties. Gray hair. Sharp eyes. Perfect suit. The lawyer. Richard Hale. He rose when she entered. “Miss Hart.” “Mr. Hale.” They shook hands. His grip was firm. Professional. Yet something about him made Isabella uncomfortable. She could not explain why. “Please sit.” She obeyed. The lawyer settled back into his chair and opened a thick file. For several seconds, neither of them spoke. The silence only increased her anxiety. Finally she could not take it anymore. “What is this about?” The lawyer folded his hands. “Your father left instructions that certain information should only be disclosed after specific conditions were met.” Isabella frowned. “What conditions?” “The completion of probate procedures.” She blinked. “Okay.” The lawyer nodded. “Those procedures have now been completed.” Isabella leaned forward. “What did he leave me?” The lawyer studied her carefully. Almost as if measuring her reaction before speaking. Then he reached into the file. He removed a sealed envelope. The paper looked old. Very old. “Your father personally delivered this to me years ago.” Years ago? Her confusion deepened. “Why?” “He instructed me to keep it safe until this moment.” The lawyer slid the envelope across the table. Isabella stared at it. Her father’s handwriting covered the front. For Isabella. Her throat tightened. She had not seen that handwriting since before his death. Carefully she picked up the envelope. For a moment she simply held it. Memories flooded her mind. Her father teaching her to ride a bicycle. Her father cheering at her graduation. Her father promising that everything would be okay. Then came the memories she hated. The arguments. The stress. The debts. The secrets. The distance that had grown between them before he died. Swallowing hard, she opened the envelope. Inside was a single letter. She unfolded it. Her eyes immediately found her father’s familiar handwriting. My dearest Isabella, If you are reading this, then I am no longer here to explain what must happen next. I know you will be angry. I know you will have questions. Believe me, I asked myself a thousand times whether I should tell you the truth. But there are promises that cannot be broken. There are mistakes that cannot be undone. And there are debts that must be paid. Whatever happens after today, remember one thing. Everything I did was to protect you. I am sorry. The letter ended there. Nothing more. No explanation. No answers. Only more questions. Isabella looked up. “What does this mean?” The lawyer remained calm. “It means your father anticipated this meeting.” “What meeting?” The lawyer opened the file again. Then he removed a document. A very thick document. Dozens of pages. Legal language covered every inch. He placed it carefully in front of her. “What is this?” “A contract.” Her eyebrows knitted together. “A contract for what?” The lawyer hesitated. For the first time, he seemed almost reluctant. Then he spoke. “A contract signed between the Hart family and the Blackwood family.” The name sounded vaguely familiar. Blackwood. She had heard it before. Many times. Everyone had. Blackwood Industries was one of the largest companies in the country. Their influence was everywhere. Why would her father have any connection to them? “This has to be some kind of mistake.” “It is not.” The lawyer adjusted his glasses. “The agreement was signed twenty five years ago.” Her heart skipped. Twenty five years? That was before she was born. “What does any of this have to do with me?” The lawyer looked directly into her eyes. Everything seemed to slow. The room. The city outside. Even her breathing. Then came the words that changed everything. “According to the terms of the agreement, if specific obligations remained unmet by the time of your father’s death, you would be required to marry the Blackwood heir.” Silence. Complete silence. Isabella stared at him. Certain she had heard wrong. “What?” The lawyer did not blink. “You are legally obligated to marry Alexander Blackwood.” For several seconds, she could only stare. Then she laughed. A short nervous laugh. Because this had to be a joke. A terrible joke. “I’m sorry.” She shook her head. “No.” The lawyer remained serious. “No?” “No.” “This agreement is legally binding.” “No.” She pushed her chair back. “This is insane.” “It was your father’s wish.” “I don’t care whose wish it was.” Her voice rose. “I am not marrying some stranger because of a piece of paper.” The lawyer opened his mouth. But before he could speak, the conference room door opened. Every head turned. A tall figure entered. The atmosphere changed instantly. Power seemed to enter the room with him. The man looked around thirty. Dark hair. Sharp features. Broad shoulders. A perfectly tailored black suit. His piercing blue eyes landed on Isabella. Cold. Unreadable. Dangerously calm. The room suddenly felt smaller. The lawyer stood immediately. “Mr. Blackwood.” The name struck Isabella like lightning. Alexander Blackwood. The Blackwood heir. The man she had apparently been ordered to marry. His gaze moved from the lawyer to the documents on the table. Then back to Isabella. For a moment, neither of them spoke. The tension was immediate. Uncomfortable. Electric. Then Alexander finally broke the silence. His deep voice was calm. Controlled. And completely uninterested. “Trust me,” he said. “I’m just as unhappy about this as you are.” Isabella’s eyes widened. And for the first time in her life, she realized that her father’s death had left behind something far worse than debt. It had left behind a man. A very powerful man. And somehow, according to a contract she had never seen before today… He was supposed to become her husband.
