Sam
This has been one of the longest days ever. I guess anxiety about impending doom will do that to you.
Jackson came to get me around dinnertime. He insisted I leave whatever work I've been staring at until tomorrow. It doesn't take much convincing on his part because he's totally right. I haven't done a damn thing all day but wallow in my misery. I know I'm dramatic, but dang it. This sucks.
On our way down the stairs, I realize there is a sweet scent lingering in the air. I guess Miss Edna is making something delicious for dessert. The thought of her desserts lifts my spirits, so I almost didn't notice Garrett acting sketchy--almost.
'Garrett, you good?' I link him.
'Yeah, man. I think I got rejected by an Omega I asked on a date.'
'Whoa, that’s new for you, huh?'
'Yeah. I think I'm gonna head home and drink myself to death.'
'Don't do that, you're one of my best warriors.'
'Thanks, Alpha. I'll see you at training tomorrow.'
Man, I don’t know who this she-wolf is, but it’s rare that Garrett gets turned down. Which is surprising considering the rumors we've all heard about him. He truly is a great warrior, but I try to keep an eye on him for other reasons. Mainly, I'm not sure he treats girls with respect.
As he leaves, I get an unsettled feeling. But I push that aside. Mates and girls and dating has me feeling all kinds of things right now. I'm sure it has nothing to do with Garrett.
Garrett
That little b*tch. How dare she? Does she not realize that the girls in this pack throw themselves at me? I tried to be nice and actually take her on a date and she has the nerve to reject me?
I pull out the flask of whiskey I carry at all times. I just down it all in one go. No use dragging it out. I'll stop at the liquor store on my way home.
As I walk down the street, I see a petite figure ahead of me. It seems that she is on the phone.
As I get a little close, I realize it’s her. Emma. Wait, no. Is that her name? Emma? Yeah, it’s got to be.
"Allie, please hang out with me. I told Garrett I forgot we had plans. I'd feel better about it if we actually hung out."
Oh, hell no. She is not getting away with that.
"Emma!" I holler at her as if I haven't been eavesdropping.
"Oh! Hey Garrett!" She waves. Fake b*tch. "Allie, I'll call you back when I'm on the way to your house--ok--yes--bye," she turns to me, "Garrett, I'm so sorry I had to cancel. Allies going through a tough time right now and needs me."
"It’s not problem. I like that you're a good friend. Can I at least walk you home so we can get to know each other a bit?" I turned the charm all the way up on this one.
"Sure," she smiles shyly, "I'd like that."
