Dust kicked up into David’s eyes as he walked in the park, and he stopped as they watered. Removing his glasses, he wiped at his eyes.
He turned around, using his back as a windbreak, while he tried to clear the dirt from his eyes. Beyond his fingers, the landscape blurred with tears, he saw something. Someone was standing beneath a tree. Although David could not make the figure out, he had a strong feeling the man was watching him.
David blinked the dust from his eyes, but his vision blurred again. For a moment, he could have sworn that shadows from the nearby groves of trees stretched out to cover his path. The temperature suddenly dropped by at least 10 degrees. David was alone and, for some reason, felt exposed. Then the dust in his eyes was gone, and his vision cleared.
