12 At first Lori ignored the crying. It was just another game, another hallucination from them. Or maybe it was in her head? Either way, it did not concern her. She had responded to the screams they had sent her. Shrill, hurtful screams, lasting for hours at night. They came from those things that walked the hall outside her room. Every shriek had been like nails on a blackboard, and the drugs Amoroth gave her seemed to open her skull and expose it to the stinging electricity of those screams.
