We went to the clinic so Val could see Max and her dogs. "We need to arrange a service for Max, and I'll have to go clean his place. " Val said.
"Okay, I'll have Dy help you with arrangements, and I'll have the warriors lock his place until we know it's safe for you to go." I told her.

I hadn't told her about the note yet. She was upset enough, as is. We made our way back to the packhouse, and Dy and Damien met us inside.
Dy took Val up to Damien's office to make arrangements for Max, and Damien and I went to my office. "What do we know so far?" I asked.
"Not much. None of the scouts or warriors saw any rogues, and when they went to check on Max there were no signs of the deputy either."
