Damien's P.O.V.
"So what was Roe's reaction?" Jace asked. He was sat with Warren in my office as we discussed a recent rogue siting on our eastern border. Though clearly Jace's mind was elsewhere.
"She hasn't really had one." I sighed, sitting back in my chair. "She hasn't said a word yet. Earlier she would read The Wolves Almanac on my lap and then stare out the window for an hour before reading the book all over again. I honestly don't know how she's going to react." I stated.
"Well if she's been close to you, that's got to be a good sign. Right?" Jace looked hopeful.
"You're forgetting that she's been attacked by wolves too many times. We can only pray to the Goddess that she trusts us." The office door slammed open, revealing a very pissed off Roe who had a towel wrapped around her. In an instant I was in front of her, blocking her from the guys. No one should be seeing her like this! She was practically naked and her wet hair just added to the temptation. "Roe, what the hell are you wear.." Her eyes snapped to mine. Gold eyes stared into me with so much anger that I took a step back. Even Demon was scared of our Mate right now. What was she?
"Don't even start!" She spoke through clenched teeth as she looked between the three of us. All standing with worried expressions. "Do you even realise how pathetic you've all been? Call yourselves a pack and yet you easily ignore the obvious and let your emotions cloud your judgement!" She yelled as she pointed at each of us, all bowing our heads in submission. What the hell was she talking about? What had we done to piss her off so much?
"Alpha what did you do?" Jace mind-linked.
"I didn't f*****g do anything! What did you do?" I growled back.
"Nothing! I have no idea what she's talking about." He replied before I noticed Roe turning to face Warren. "You know the plan we had?" I watched as he slowly met her eyes. "We're doing it now. Find Alec and we will meet you there." Warren was quick to exit the room, though I didn't miss how he gingerly skirted around her. "And you two will meet me out front with a car in five minuets." Roe spoke with authority and turned to leave.
"Were are you going?" I asked. Wondering what her plan was. She quickly turned back to me, her eyes shinning so fiercely I gulped.
"Well I'm going to get changed or would you prefer that I leave house in a bikini?" The sarcasm was thick on her tongue as she removed the towel to reveal that damn sexy silver bikini of hers. Growling I placed myself between her and Jace. What was she playing at? Her gaze remained steady as she turned around and began to walk away. "I thought not. Outside, five minutes." She called over her shoulder as I watched her saunter down the hallway, her hips swaying hypnotically. Even though she was slightly terrifying when she was pissed, she was damn sexy. f**k! She was going to be the death of me.
A tattoo studio. That's where Roe had directed us on the most awkward car ride I had ever been on. Her eyes were still glowing gold but thankfully she was fully clothed now in a black fluffy jumper and dark jeans. Though honestly the jeans were so tight they left nothing to the imagination and all I could imagine was slowly pulling them down to reveal that gorgeously big ass of hers. f**k! Now was definitely not he time to be thinking about that.
The atmosphere only got worse when we entered the shop and the tension between the three of us and Alec was palpable. He kept his head down until Roe forced him to sit down on the black leather sofa in front of the window. Why did he get to sit down and not us? Just as I thought that Roe growled. Not her usual adorable attempt, but an actual growl and it was full of power that had all of us whimpering. How did she have so much power to scare an Alpha? Even Demon was cowering in my mind. Though he was also proud of her.
"Alec, what made you go back in to the house the day I was kidnapped?" She asked, her voice softer now. He visibly flinched at the memory. "And don't just say 'for a girl'."
"For Rebecca." He shrugged, still looking down. She promptly slapped the back of his head. He didn't make a sound but he winced.
"Why?" She asked, her voice remaining soft.
"I heard her." He mumbled. Intently watching his fingers.
"You heard her what?"
"Scream. It sounded like she was in danger. Ow!" This time he held the back of his head and looked up at Roe's face in complete shock.
"You utter moron." She yelled before smiling brightly and wrapping her arms around him. Alec's eyes went wide and his jaw dropped. "You did what any decent person would do. And that's why you will always be one of us!" She pulled back from him and turned to face us, still smiling. I had barely noticed she had hugged me, in shock that she was right. How could I have been so blind. Alec was my best friend. We grew up together. So how could I doubt his intentions for even a second? "So you four will patch things up and this will never happen again. Got it?" Without thinking I nodded and noticed Warren and Jace doing the same. I didn't want to disappoint her again. We all felt like s**t for not thinking better of Alec. I should have listened to Roe's concerns. f**k! I should have known better as an Alpha. Roe was right when she said that we let our emotions get in the way and as Alpha I should have known better. But it was too hard to think rationally when your Mates life is at stake.
"Now," She turned to Warren. "Have they got the design ready?" He didn't need to answer as Leon, the shops owner, stepped out from the back room.
"Here you go, Gorgeous. Just what we discussed." He smile at her and I couldn't help but growl at him. How dare he? She was mine. He hung his head in submission but before I could say anything else, someone smacked my arm.
"Idiot." Roe muttered as she moved passed me and took the paper out of Leon's hand. "Ignore him and thankyou for doing this so last minute." She turned back to face us and held up the paper. The silhouette of a howling wolfs head stared back at us. "We are more then just friends. You guys are the only family I know. Were like a pack, always looking out for each other and protecting each other. It seems daft now that I know what you are..." The gold had faded as she spoke, her usual hazel eyes now looked at us hesitantly. The power she radiated had faded too.
"It's not daft, Princess." I interrupted and stepped closer to her, slowly reaching out to tuck her hair behind her ear. "It's actually perfect." She blushed and refused to meet my gaze. I couldn't help but smile at her. Only a minute ago she had had us cowering before her, now she was back to being the shy girl I loved. f**k! I really did love her didn't I?
Roe's P.O.V.
"Okay, so were are we getting it?" I asked. The boys all looked at each other before grinning. Suddenly they all removed their shirts and pointed to their left pec's. But I couldn't stop looking at Damien's naked torso. He wasn't overly muscular, but he was very toned with washboard abs. It took everything in me no to run my fingers down them. Feeling my face heating up, I quickly turned to the others while pointing at Damien. "And do you really think this one is going to let someone touch my brea.." My question was cut off by a ferocious growl as I pulled into Damien's arms. His face immediately went to my neck, sending sparks where his lips touched my skin. My back was pressed against his chest as he trapped me in his arms. "Calm down." I spoke softly, my voice coming out shakily at our closeness.
"MINE!" He growled lowly, pulling me closer and running his nose up my neck. All I could hear was my heart beating loudly and his breath fanning my ear. Hesitantly I placed my hands on his arms and gently pried him off me, shaking my head as I turned to face him. He didn't let me go far though, keeping his hands on my waist as he watched me. I didn't want him to let go. Even now, it felt right to be in his arms. To be close to him. Only him. He was warm and safe and even though I knew what he was, that he hid it from me, I couldn't even stay mad at him. At any of them really. Something inside was telling me that I already knew about their existence from before. That this wasn't wholly something new to me.
Damien and Alec went first, after we all agreed that the shoulder was a better place to have the tattoo. Now it was my turn and just the thought of someone else touching me was making me panic. My heart was racing and I was beginning to shake.
"Roe, did you forget that tattoos involve someone having to touch you?" Damien ask softly.
"Of course not." I huffed, crossing my arms over my chest. A smirk played on his lips. Infuriating man. Why does he have to read me like a book?
"I don't believe you, Princess. But I do have a solution." His grin turned mischievous as he neared me. Before I had chance to respond he pulled my jumper over my head and carried me over to the chair. He sat down with me straddling him, a smug grin on his face.
"Damien!" I shrieked, trying to cover my breasts. Damn werewolf speed! I was highly aware that all my scars were on show for all to see. I didn't want anyone to see them. Least of all Damien.
"Calm down, there's only me and you in here." Hesitantly I looked around, finding that everyone had indeed left us alone. "See I know what I'm doing. I'm the only one allowed to see you like this." He spoke gently as he tucked my hair behind my ear. His fingers trailing down my jaw until his hand moved to the back of my neck. He gently pulled me forward and placed my head on his bare chest. That intoxicating salty smell flooded my senses and I found myself relaxing into him. I felt him place some fabric over the bottom of my back before his arms lay on my waist. "See? Now just remember that only I'm touching you." His voice was low and husky in my ear. All I could focus on was the way he chest moved underneath me, his heartbeat drumming a steady beat and his fingers tracing delicious circles on my hips.
