Last Ride

Chapter Seven - Jackson - Connection Lost

She puts her hands on either side of my face, and The room falls away. I have never gotten so lost and a kiss before. And then, the space between us explodes. My heart keeps missing beats, and my hands can’t bring her close enough to me. I tasted her and realized I have been starving. I have loved before but I didn’t feel like this. I have kissed before but it didn’t burn me alive. Maybe it’ll last a minute, maybe an hour, all I know is that kiss, and how soft her skin is when it brushes against mine, and even if I didn’t know it until now, I've been waiting for her all my life. I would do anything for her but leaving her unprotected still doesn’t sit easy with me. I feel like as soon as i look away she’ll disappeared on me. 

****later that week****

We were in the gym first period, her dirty blonde hair was messy put up in a ponytail. She was wearing one of my hoodies, which not only was adorable, but entirely to big for her. Before I could get to her M.C and her pack snatched her up. M.C looked back at me sticking her tongue out.

After warm ups the freshmen classes, including M.C, left us. The rest of us lined up to choose teams for volleyball, Ava chose her as a first pick and not only was that highly unusual for her to be chosen first, but Ava and corra didn't really get along.

It wasn't till we started playing that I understood why she was amazing and completely carrying the team. When me and my buddies matched up against them we were evenly matched. That's when coach Hill spoke out "corra stop playing with them and just finish this." We all looked at him astonished at what he said. She rolled her eyes and took of the hoodie.

"Fine." One after the other she scored points and there was nothing we could do. As we walked off the court I looked closely at her. She was barely sweating and her tank top was bunching up around her waist, and she was completely stunning.

A rouge named Seth walked over to her and placed his arm around her shoulders, and whispered in her ear. I was already walking twords them to take care of him when she had him pinned on the ground. "Don't you dare touch me again."she got up and her eyes were jet black " I'm going to the nurses Hill." She said without looking at me. Picking up my hoodie and putting it on, she walked towards the door. 

"Are you ok?"

"I'm fine." I grabbed her wrist, she was burning hot. 

"You need to blow off some steam."

"I'm fine, really."

"Your not! Stop trying to be strong, you can lean on me now. Your a ticking time bomb right now… and we don't need the school looking like my kitchen." I whispered in her ear.

"I'll be at the nurses." She ripped away from me and left.

At the end of gym, I changed and headed straight for the nurses office. When I walked in it was quite. "Hello is corra here?"

"No sorry, we haven't seen her all day." An alarm went off in my head screaming something was wrong. I bolted out and straight for the door when Grady stoped me.

"Whats wrong?"

"She left!" 

"What do you mean she left."

"I mean she left. Gone. Walked out of school. Is that clear enough for you."

" Well do you trust her."

" No, but I trust her anger."

" Well what do you think she's doing? She's never been rash before."

"She's still in the middle of her shift.”

“What? You mean she still hasn’t fully shifted yet!”

“Ya.”

“Well f**k, i just saw her out there losing her shit.” We both looked at each other and then bolted out the door. Looking out at the senior parking lot we saw her arguing with someone. When we got to her there was no one, she was sitting at the end of her car in tears. I knelt down and push the loose strands of hair out of her face.

“Are you ok?” She picked herself up and walked to the drivers side of the car.

She wiped away her tears and said “I just need some space. I’ll be back soon.” She got in the car and drove off. An emptiness filled me, and suddenly nothing mattered more than getting her back next to me.

“Are you good?”

“Fine.”

“Where do you think she’s going?”

“I have no idea.”

**** late that night****

I didn’t know it was possible to miss someone this much until I rolled over in the middle of the night and tried to wrap myself around her, only to find cold sheets and an empty bed for the first time in a week. I looked around the room and all of her stuff was gone, I got out of bed and looked around the house for her but it was completely empty. I looked in the car port and her car was gone. I called her but there was no response. Three calls, five, six, no response. I finally called Cohen and he picked up on the first ring “Where is she?” Even I could hear the panic in my voice.

“I think it’s time for us to talk, come over to my place.” The line went dead and a rush of panic, worry, and anger  filled me. I ran down the steps to the truck and drove to their house. The roads were dark and the digital clock read 2:17. The house was tucked back I. The woods but now the fall was over you could see it's lights from the road. I walked into the house to see cloud asleep in a chair with his mate sleeping in his lap. A movie was playing, I peeked around the lamp shade to see Cohen, his mate asleep on him as well. And all I could think was that could be me and corra right now. Cohen tapped his mate " Anna I have to go to the bathroom." She mumbled not even opening her eyes, she moved off of him grabbing a pillow and going back to sleep. "Let's go into the kitchen." He whispered to me. I nodded and followed him past the dinning room table and into the kitchen.

" What's going on Cohen? Where is she?" 

" She went home for a little bit." It made no sense. " She … well she went back to gorgia for a bit. She has to take care of some things." 

"What." I felt like everything was falling apart. " Was it because off me." 

"No, no God no. She well she's not a rogue like the rest of our family." That was even more confusing. " He mother's. Pack. She took over it not long ago. " Everything was falling apart in front of me. " When she left Warren the pack he was keeping at Bay for her started to cross there border. She had to go back." 

"So this is all my fault?"

"No, she knew this was going to happen." 

"Why didn't she tell me."

"Because she knew you would try to fix things."

"f**k ya I would."

"It's not that simple jackson, she doesn't want to get you involved."

"Why! I'm her mate! I should be involved!"

"Cohen her pack isn't really welcoming to outsiders." 

"Why do I f*****g care she's my mate."

"You need to calm down, they will kill you on sight.”

“ Give me the address."

“ I really don't think this is a good idea.”

“Now!... please.”

“Fine,” he wrote it down on a piece of paper. “Just be careful will you.” I got in the truck and just drove.
