I really didn’t want to leave him, but it’s not like i really had a choice, taking Jackson with me would only lead to more problems for everyone. I know leaving like i did would really hurt him, but he would have tried to solve the problem for me. I don’t want him to leave his pack. He's the head alpha, and I personally know how hard it is to run a pack from a distance. The only reason my pack was ok with me doing it was that Warren's allies were helping protect our border and they wanted me to finish school. This was always going to be a problem; it just happened sooner than I thought. I still just had the slightest bit of hope that they would just leave, but not only did we have the rogues but the pine moon clan attacking too.
As I pulled up to the house, Elijah my second, and Ally my third came out. “Boss you’re finally back!” Elijah came up giving me a nuggy. He leaned down smelling the top of my head “why do you smell like a cigar cellar.”
“Ooooo! Is that a mark on you I see!” Ally said jumping up and down. Even though she acts like a child sometimes, she is still one of the most bad-a*s wolves I’ve ever seen.
“What some mutt marked my alpha!”
“Oh piss off. I found my mate.”
“You Let Some Yankee Mark you!”
“Oh ha ha ha you damn red neck.”
The next couple hours was just work, trying to catch up on pack stuff that I had neglected since school started. We double patrols and training times for the younger wolves. We knew the rogues were getting closer, they kept testing out our border. I kept one place on the east side pretty much empty so that’s where they would attack from, and I was right; they took the bait. It must have been about two or three in the morning when Ally burst through my office doors “Co they’re here.” We were all running through the woods to the fight, but what was in front of me wasn’t a fight it was a bloodbath. I saw one of the rogues go for one of the teens neck, I shifted and went right for it. The white parts of my fur are now b****y and blending in with the rest.
One after the other I killed every enemy in front of me the smell of death filled the air. After a good 20 minutes of fighting only the truly strong were left, I stared down a rabid rogue who was hovering over ally. As we started for each other a huge dark brown wolf came out of nowhere and slammed into, knocking me down into the blood soaked soil and crushing me. I tried so hard to move but my ribs must have been broken. As I struggled to get up I felt teeth sink into the back of my neck; whoever it was started dragging me away from the fight, far from our territory and to the edge of the field. My entire pack was trying to get to me but both the rogues and enemy pack were surrounding me.
When it finally let go I heard it growling at something. It was getting hard to breathe even though my wolf was crying out, nobody was moving. It was like someone pressed pause on a movie, then everyone was facing past me growling and cowering at something. I stopped struggling as fresh blood splattered all over me. My pack stood their ground, frozen at whatever was happening. I wasn’t scared my wolf in fact had completely calmed down, I tried to get up but something big, and jet black stood over me, gently holding me down. I knew who it was, even if i couldn’t smell anything but blood. Part of me wished I was still fighting, because I dreaded the conversation I was about to have more than fighting. In fact if anything i was looking forward to blowing off some steam
I felt his mussel help lift my head, as I looked around every enemy was dead, my pack was in front of us still deciding whether or not to attack. I looked behind me at two black and brown mixed wolves, covering another black wolf that looked a lot like Jackson, Michaela! He brought Michaela all the way down here. I picked myself up with a little help and headed to the main house, he never left my side the whole way back. If anyone one even got close to me including Grady and tank.
I walked up the back steps of the house and into the living room, I always left the glass screens open so any of us could walk in and out even in wolf form, it just made it easier for everyone. I shifted, grabbing a blanket off the couch to cover myself with and walked back out. My entire pack now stood around them, anger radiating off both sides. “Jackson we need to talk.” I motioned for him to come in. “All of you keep your cool, they are friends, go take care of the wounded and go back to your jobs.” No one moved “NOW!” I said in my alpha voice.
Most of them left but a small group including Ally and Elijah stood their ground. I knew they weren’t going to leave, i took a deep breath “I swear to god you two! Don’t you dare start anything! Don’t even taunt th…” I looked closely at the two, but they were focusing on Jackson’s group. Michaela and Grady looked as mesmerized as them. I burst out in laughter, tears running down my face from the broken ribs. Jackson stood next to me, looking confused, I patted his head “oh you dummy. Their mates.” His eyes widened; he looked from his sister to Elijah and growled at him. “Oh stop it how would you feel if my brothers did that to you.” I scuffed up his fur “all of you come on in.”
The boys went with Elijah, well Michaela came with me and Ally. I practically had to drag the two into my room to get cleaned up, and dressed, which considering I had no clothes on was quite difficult. We were all roughly the same size so there wasn’t really a problem digging through my closet to find something that fit. But I do have to say it was quite hilarious to see Jackson shirtless because none of Elijah's shirts fit him, and quite pleasing to the eye too. When Elijah went to sit next to Mic he pushed himself right into the middle of them, acting like nothing was wrong. I had to bite my lip to not laugh, “oh no no no. You're sitting with me.” I grabbed his arm and pulled him to my favorite couch, pushing him down and sitting in his lap. Now Elijah was the one glaring, Jackson Nuzzled his head on my neck Bailey grazing his fangs where he would be marking me hopefully soon.
I felt him smiling “Mine.” And thank god i wasn’t the only one beet red because Elijah got a devilish smirk, put Mic on his lap, and did the same exact thing. If i wasn’t absolutely embarrassed and in the middle of two overprotective wolves growling at each other i would be laughing my a*s off.
“Well on that note i think we should all just call it a day” i said gently running my hand through his hair. I pulled away from him and pulled him towards the stairs. Making sure to push him up them before I turned my head towards Michaela. “Mic, I trust you’ll be comfortable staying with Elijah.” I felt Jackson jolt, and I leaned all my weight on him so he didn’t turn around. I started to push him down the hall “why are you making this so hard.” I said out of breath as he leaned on my arms even more.
“Because I’m enjoying seeing you struggling.” I dropped my arms and moved out of the way watching him fall to the floor with a loud bang. He grabbed my wrist and pulled me down on top of him. “You know I’m still really mad at you.”
“I know” i rested my head on his chest “I’m sorry.”
“I don’t see why i had to find out about this” he gestured to the house “from your brother. And why you just left without telling me. I could have helped from the start.”
“That’s just it. I don’t want you to help you have your own pack to take care of. I don’t want me and mine to be a burden on you.” I took a long sigh. “Because i didn’t want you to be overwhelmed. It took so long for you to even take me onto your load.”
“Ohh baby, you're not a burden to me. You are literally the only thing pushing me forward. If you only knew how pissy and brutish i was before i met you that day at Dazzy's you would have wanted to be around me. Ask Tank.”
“Then why did it take you so long to even talk to me.”
“Because I didn't want you to get dragged into my problems.” We both looked at each other and started laughing, I clutched my chest at the pain. “You're hurt Aren't you” he said in a painful tone. I nodded.
He picked me up and chaired me down the hall bridle style. I leaned into him taking in his scent. “I missed your scent.”
“I actually couldn’t be happier right now.” I looked at him puzzled. “I have spent the past 32 hours trying to find your scent and now in this place i can smell you everywhere.” I burst out laughing overjoyed at the comment “now could you tell me where I’m going.”
