THE MORNING AFTER

Kate woke up to the sound of knocking at her door. Still on the bed and looking up to the ceiling, she shoke off sleep trying to recollect the events that had occurred over the night. Her heart skipped a bit realizing that as of last night, she had become the girlfriend of the guy she least expected and she rejoiced over that thought. She groggily got out of bed and made her way to the entrance, still trying to shake off the sleep. She opened the door to find Jenny standing there with a big smile on her face. "Hey, girl! How was your night?" Jenny asked, bouncing up and down with excitement. Kate couldn't help but laugh at her friend's enthusiasm. The night before she had texted Jenny concerning the recent development between she and James. "Come in, come in," she said, stepping aside to let Jenny in. Jenny followed Kate into her room and plopped down on the bed. "So, tell me everything! What happened with James?" Kate took a deep breath and launched into a detailed account of the previous night's events, from the party and back to the house. Jenny listened with wide eyes, asking questions and making supportive noises along the way. When Kate finished, Jenny let out a squeal. "Oh my god, Kate! That sounds amazing! I'm so happy for you." Kate blushed, feeling a little self-conscious about how much she had shared. But Jenny's excitement was infectious, and soon Kate found herself grinning from ear to ear. "I know, right?" Kate said, giggling. "I feel like I'm on cloud nine." Jenny nodded vigorously. "You deserve it, Kate. You've been through so much, and now you're finally getting the happiness you deserve." Kate felt a lump form in her throat as she looked at her friend. "Thanks, Jenny. That means a lot coming from you." The two friends sat there for a moment, basking in the glow of Kate's newfound happiness. Then Jenny spoke up again. "So, what's next? Are you going to see him again?" Kate nodded, feeling a flutter in her chest. "Yeah, I think so. He asked me to explore this thing between us, and I want to see where it goes." Jenny squealed again, this time even louder. "I'm so excited for you, Kate! This is just the beginning of something amazing." " I hope so" Kate said grabbing the pillow from the bed and hugging it. "You go girl, but you gotta be careful okay?" Jenny said. " Okay" Kate replied. Over the week, the two love birds spent their loving and caring. However, it seemed darkness Lurked yonder. Kate knew she loved but then again she knew better than to trust a guy as mysterious as James, she trusted the process but not the depths she sees in James' eyes, she was scared. Not scared of James, not scared of love, for the first time ever in her life; Kate was actually scared of herself. Mysterious yet a sense of longing, she was scared of what she may have to do to ensure that James was and forever hers. James invited Kate to dinner at his place, Jenny spent all day grooming her, ensuring that her lotus were well trimmed. " Jenny stop it, how sure are you that something will even happen between us?" Kate panicked. "Believe me when I say it will, you don't want to leave your man thirsty for too long" Jenny said selecting a dress for her. " thirsty ?? It's just dinner, am sure we'll have enough water to drink" Kate said without thinking anything of her words. " yes....... Enough water to last all night Kate" Jenny said making ambiguous meaning out of Kate's words. " you know what forget it" Kate said heading towards the bathroom.
