I slept well that night, the sound of the ocean lulling me to sleep. I was exhausted from the sleepless night before and it had caught up to me. I woke with the dawn, refreshed, and ready for another swim.
The beach was deserted this early in the morning, so I walked from the patio into the ocean. The water was still really warm, even though the sun hadn’t warmed the air around me yet. I swam out and then dived down. I felt the water calling to me and I was answering.
I dived down and let myself float in the water, halfway to the bottom. My hair fanned around me and I turned my head, pushing it out from in front of my face. I relaxed, letting myself be refreshed by the water.
