Who is he?
The bell rang for lunch, and I was starved. The thing with my school, was, there was no cafeteria. We just sat where we could, all over the school, with exceptions to the teacher's lounges and offices. I was currently sitting on the stairs with my two best girls and my two best guys.
"Have you completed the art project for next class, Ava?" Chloe asks, knowing full well that I have.
I just nod and continue eating. Roxy perks up by this conversation, "we had a project??" she fumbles with her bag as she searches for it in pure panic, only to realize she had done it too.
We all laughed at how ridiculous it was. People assumed Roxy was an airhead, well she kinda was, but she always made the effort for school and she had the craziest amount of love in her heart. I looked at her and sighed, I'm glad she's my bestie.
Just then, Shane nudged my elbow, "wanna take a walk?" he asked as he packed away his books, his not the studious type but he too, tries.
"yeah sure," I say, "but I need to use the washroom, wait for me? I plead. He just shook his head and smiled.
I turned to go up the stairs, when my eye caught sight of him. What was he doing here? Why today, ugh!
My other friend Cade, followed my eyes and started whistling and grinning at me. Cade knew who he was and so did I.
My brother's best friend, the guy I day dream about, the guy I always imagine myself with. He looks up and catches me staring. I blush and can't stop the smile that's forming on my face.
It's obvious, that Chloe and Roxy are at a loss, they have no idea what's going on, as for Shane, he just stares in shock as he realizes what's going on.
"Ava?" Shane starts but I am lost, lost in that moment. He shouts "Ava, get a grip, he's gone!" I'm startled by the shouting and just mumble under my breath as I make my way to the washroom.
I look at myself in the mirror, at 14 years old, I feel I still haven't developed, as yet, if you know what I mean. I mean, I'd say I was pretty, but I've seen girls my age, with curves better than Mariah Carey. And apparently, that's what guys are into now. Humps and bumps in all the right places. I know, it's ridiculous to assume that a fourteen year old would even have humps, and the only bumps I ever get, are my damned zits! Hang on, why am I getting sidetracked. Breath Ava. Breath. Go for a walk with Shane.
I leave the washroom and head to the school ground with Shane. As we walk, I greet a few familiar faces. I always try to be nice to everyone. But that's not easy when you're a teen. There's always some drama. I hear my name being yelled over all the noise, I turn, and there he is, waving me over like a lunatic. I let Shane know that I'm about to leave him alone but he decides he wants to tag along. As we get closer, Shane starts doing the weirdest thing, he links his arm over mine, I give him a questioning look and all he says "a little jealousy never hurts", I can't help the blush. I swear! I have the best friends ever!
