"What are you?" he asked. I looked at him straight in the eyes.

"I'm the angel of fate" I said.

He gulped.

"How? Why? When?" he said confused.

I sighed.

"You shouldn't have done that. You shouldn't have done this" I told him.

"Just answer me, please" he said obviously frustrated.

I'm seriously just as stressed as he is.

"It's no use. You'll have to forget me anyway" I said as I took a step closer to him.

"What? NO. Don't" he said but as soon as I touched his forehead, he fainted.

"I'm sorry" I muttered as a tear fell from my eye.

Her name is Gabrielle. An angel sent from above to change the fate of humans on earth.

The purpose of her stay is to save as many lives as she can.

But it won't be easy.

Specially not with someone who constantly tries to get involved with her in the worst way possible.

Alexander Smith.

Chapter 1
Gabrielle's POV As I flutter my eyes open, I am greeted by the warm sunlight streaming into the room. I instinctively shield my face from its bright rays as I sit up, taking a moment to gather my thoughts. I slowly turn my head to survey my surroundings. A wooden cabin. What a nice choice. Rising from my cozy bed, I make my way to the window. “Nice. Thank you, God,” I exclaim, feeling a swell of happiness as I notice that the cabin is situated right beside a tranquil river. I stretch my arms and legs a bit before wandering over to a full-sized mirror. Running a hand through my light blonde waves, neatly defined yet carefree, I gently touch my face, a smile spreading across my lips as I admire my sapphire blue eyes. What a masterpiece. With a joyful skip, I step out of the door and into a quaint living room, making my way to the kitchen where I grab a crisp apple and a glass of water before heading outside. “Beautiful!” I proclaim, spreading my arms wide as the sun's warm embrace invigorates me. The soothing sound of the flowing water nearby brings me a sense of peace. Earth should be like this, not filled with so much pollution. I take a crisp bite of the apple, settling down on a rustic wooden chair to savor the sweetness. I wonder when humanity will realize that living in harmony with nature far exceeds the fabricated pleasures of their city life. I let out a disappointed sigh. Whatever. Their loss. Standing up once more, I begin to roam the area. A gleeful cheer escapes my lips when I catch sight of a delightful garden beside the cabin. “Yippee! What a beautiful garden!” I exclaim, taking in the fragrant flowers and inspecting the flourishing vegetables and fruits. God truly is spoiling me. I decide to venture to the back of the property and am surprised to see a white convertible, the kind humans refer to as a "car." I frown slightly but decide to examine the vehicle. Upon closer inspection, I smile at the realization that it is an electric convertible. “Yes!” I exclaim with excitement, feeling victorious for Mother Nature. Glancing up at the sky, I give a thumbs up with my wide smile beaming. “You're the best, God!” I shout, feeling a sudden breeze dance around me, causing me to giggle. It's as if God is playfully responding, ‘Of course, I am.’ Finally, I head back inside, taking a refreshing shower before dressing up for a day of exploration. Gotta look fresh for my new animal friends! Once again, I venture outside, skipping through the woods as I encounter an array of adorable animals along the way, including a few deer and even some boars. It would have been lovely to encounter a tiger or a lion, although I doubt any roam this area. Sigh. But my spirits dampen as I reach a clearing in the woods and my heart sinks. The trees have been brutally cut down. Poor little things. I gently touch each one that I can still save. Those cruel humans. So many creatures have lost their homes. How incredibly brutal. After ensuring I’ve saved the remaining trees, I close my eyes and form my hands into fists. I breathe in deeply and, as I exhale, I open my palm to reveal seeds. Awesome! With love, I plant each one in the soil, hoping they will flourish beautifully. If only the humans would refrain from cutting them down. I highly doubt it, though. They do as they please. I look around, estimating that it will take about a week, at most, for the trees to return after I’ve revived them. Patting myself on the back, I think, Good work, Gabrielle. I continue to wander until I finally reach a paved road. I guess this must lead to the city. Figures. Feeling uninterested, I walk back toward the cabin. But just as I’m about to arrive, I hear a frantic scream pierce the air. Suddenly, I find myself transported to an entirely different place, where I see a little girl on the verge of drowning in the water. Without a moment’s hesitation, I spring into action, running and diving into the water just before she fully sinks. I grasp her small hand and pull her up to the surface alongside me. The girl gasps for air as we break through the water, her grip tightening around me in sheer fear. Holding onto the wooden platform, I make our way to solid ground, where the little girl clings to me closely. Finally, we reach the safety of the shore. “Hush, little one,” I say softly when I notice her starting to cry. I cradle her gently in my arms. “It’s okay. You’re safe,” I reassure her, caressing her hair in an attempt to comfort her. “Shhh. I’m here,” I console her presence, and slowly, she begins to calm down. “Brooke!” a man calls out. I turn to see a guy with black hair and piercing green eyes, who bears a striking resemblance to the girl I’m holding. Her brother. “A-Alex!” the girl whimpers, reaching out for him. He swiftly takes her in his arms. “What happened?” he asks, a worried expression on his face as he surveys the situation. I stand back, quietly observing them. “I fell in the water,” she sobs. Sighing, the guy embraces the little girl, trying to soothe her. I rise to my feet and squeeze out the water from my top. I’m drenched, but that’s perfectly fine as long as the little girl is safe. I glance up to see the young man looking at me with furrowed brows. Oh. What’s his problem? “Who are you and what are you doing on our private property?” he asks grumpily. I want to explain myself, to clarify the situation, but I decide against it, knowing it wouldn’t matter much. “You’re welcome,” I say before starting to leave, but as I try to walk away, he unexpectedly grabs my wrist, yanking me almost painfully back. Seriously? “Alex, no! She saved me!” his little sister protests, squirming out of his hold to rush towards me, throwing her arms around my waist. I look down at her, caressing her hair as I gently pull my arms from his grasp. “It’s okay, little one. You just stay out of trouble, okay?” I say, crouching down to meet her gaze. She nods slowly, a slight blush creeping onto her cheeks. “My name is Brooke,” she states with a smile. “Oh, my mistake! Just be careful next time, Brooke,” I reply, ruffling her black hair playfully. She giggles, her earlier distress forgotten. It feels as if nothing had ever happened, and she seems perfectly well now. “What’s your name?” she asks, tilting her head to the side with curiosity. “Me?” I reply. She nods eagerly. “My name’s Elle,” I introduce myself. “Thank you for saving my life, Elle,” she says sweetly, her innocent eyes shining with gratitude. I cup her face gently, smiling back. “You're very welcome, Brooke,” I say warmly. Standing back up, I face her brother, who appears to be scrutinizing me with a piercing glare. How very nice of him. But I don’t expect anything better from him whatsoever. Between him and Brooke, it’s clear she’s the kinder, warmer one. “Brooke, hurry inside and I’ll be right behind you,” the guy named Alex instructs firmly. “But, Alex—” Brooke begins to protest. “Brooke,” he warns, his tone leaving no room for argument. Brooke’s eyes shimmer with unshed tears as she hesitates to obey him. I approach the distressed girl to offer my reassurance. “Why don’t you go inside and dry yourself off? You wouldn’t want to catch a cold, right?” I suggest kindly. Her eyes soften at my words as she nods, glancing briefly at her brother before rushing inside. I then turn my attention back to the young man in front of me. He scans me up and down, a look of suspicion etched on his face. “Let me ask you this again: Who are you and what are you doing on our private property?” he repeats, his tone brimming with hostility. I meet his gaze unwaveringly, staring straight into his green eyes. “You’re not very nice,” I point out, my expression steady. His brows furrow further, almost in disbelief. “For someone who seems to have been given almost everything in life, you certainly don’t exude much enthusiasm about it,” I remark lightly. “Excuse me? Who the hell are you, and why do you speak as if you know anything about me?” he hisses, taking an aggressive step towards me. I neither flinch nor retreat. “You’re not very hard to read,” I reply with a casual shrug. “What?” he snaps, looking momentarily taken aback. “Also, are you really comfortable with this much distance? Personally, I don’t care, but you?” I say, taking a step forward. He immediately steps back, startled. I knew he would do just that. I have a knack for understanding people; it’s something that comes naturally to me. “Who the hell are you?” he demands, his tone laced with both curiosity and irritation. I smile innocently at him, maintaining my composure. “I already told you. My name is Elle,” I reiterate, maintaining eye contact. He scoffs at me, unimpressed. “Elle what?” he challenges. I tilt my head to the side, feigning innocence. “Don’t worry, you’ll have the chance to get to know me better soon,” I reply with a playful smile. Then, my attention drifts behind him. He glances back momentarily, and when he turns back to me, I do what I need to do. “Sorry about this!” I say, blowing gently into his eyes, causing him to step back, rubbing them furiously. “What the?!” he exclaims, bewildered. Taking this opportunity, I swiftly run away. Once I’m enveloped by the woods, I teleport back to the front of the cabin, relieved to be away from that human. Well, that was quite an eventful first day. Anyways, an angel's gotta do what an angel's gotta do. I stroll back to my cabin, still damp from my earlier dive into the lake. After showering and changing into a fresh set of clothes, I return to the garden, potting some vibrant flowers before wandering around the area once more, getting better accustomed to the environment where I would be living for a while. I skip through the woods, twirling around with a smile, joyfully familiarizing myself with this enchanting place. Then, I suddenly halt, lifting my gaze as a ray of sunlight shines down on me. My mission is just about to begin.
