Chapter 24
The faintest morning light caused Maclean to spring out of the bed. He firmly woke Ryan and hustled him through the shared bathroom and into his own bedroom at the back of the house.
"Quickly," Maclean pleaded into Ryan's ear. "Jacob is an early riser."
Ryan crawled into his own bed and Maclean bent down to speak to him again.
"I'll bring your clothes back to this room," Maclean said. "Sleep for a few more hours. We have a full day."
It was a few minutes after eight o'c**k when Ryan was fully rested and ready for breakfast. At the top of the stairway, Ryan paused and eavesdropped on the clear voices carrying up from the level below.
"Are you abiding by the strict directive to not get personally involved with him?" Jacob inquired.
"I am in compliance," Maclean answere
