Chapter 4 Ryan refused to make eye contact with Damian. In the mansion's three car garage, there was only one vehicle at the moment—a sport utility vehicle (SUV) with New Mexico license plates. Damian touched Ryan's elbow, hoping to get his attention, but Ryan lurched back as if the touch contained an electrical charge. "There is a listening device in the SUV," Damian said. Ryan reacted with a grunt and slammed the door once he climbed into the passenger seat. They drove in silence at a leisurely pace, south across the city, through the twilight and fog.
