Ryan accurately repeated to Sam, for a second time, what he recalled of his story. Once again, however, Ryan omitted three details—Ryan's expressed taste for masculine men, Zachary's theory about semen and virility, and the exchange of their private phone numbers.
"What does this Aleksey look like?" Sam asked.
"Like you, actually," Ryan answered. "Blond hair, laying back on his head without bangs. Athletic and thirty or so. But Aleksey has no beard and he is a few inches taller."
"Russian?"
"I assumed that. But I cannot differentiate—like some people think they can—a Slavic person from a German or an Irishman."
"What kind of gun is he carrying?" Sam asked. "Glock?"
"Beretta."
"Did you try to leave?"
"No. I never felt threatened."
