"You really don't have to be here." I mutter. "Work is more important." He takes my hand and gives it a little squeeze. "You are more important." He wraps his arms warmly around me. Him being here for me is everything. I wasn't expecting him to cancel his business trip but he did. For me. We are sitting on the hospital bench, waiting for the doctor to give us a brief. I'm leaning on CJ's shoulder, sad thoughts running noisily through my mind. What if I lose my mom? I lost my biological nine years ago! And now I'm gonna lose my step-mom too?
