"Do you remember who did this to you?"
Madeline asks when CJ leaves us alone.
"Who?" I pretend.
Madeline looks at me suspiciously. "George. Did he tell you something? Anything?"
I stare at her. "Who is George?"
Madeline stares at me for a moment as I scratch my head like some crazy person. I can see relief wash through her eyes.
The b***h bought my act.
And that will be the end of her.
As long as I have "amnesia", I am safe and I can expose Madeline for the snake she really is.
But no doubt, being in the same room with her creeps me out. My heart is racing and my whole body is perspirating. But I'm acting as cool as possible so that she doesn't notice.
CJ finally comes back with the doctor and I thank God I don't sigh in relief.
