The first thing he could remember was warmth. Being held close by his mother and taken care of, not a bad thing in the world. The next thing he could remember was cold and snow, being ripped from his mother’s arms and crying for her to help him seeing her being held back and tears falling from her eyes before he was thrown into the back of a truck with a bunch of other pups.
One of the older wolves had taken lead and had them huddle together to keep warm, the tattered rags they were wearing did nothing to keep them protected from the Winters harsh breeze. The trip was bumpy and the back of the truck was filled whit whines and whimpers, cries for their mother’s but no response.
Then the door was opened and they were all harshly pulled out the younger of the lot being carried but the scruffs of their necks or by the older wolves. Older wolves they were working here?
He looked around his golden and red eyes scanning the area, why were they all helping these people? He couldn’t understand had they done something wrong? Why had they been taken away from their home? He had so many questions.
They were lead to the inside, it was colder in here then it was out there did they have some sort of heating? They were pushed into a cage, groups of ten.
“Yes Sir thirty… Yes sir all young too… Uh around four and ten I believe sir…… Yes sir.”
What did that mean? Was that a good thing? He tilted his head before jumping back when a man jumped into his line of sight coming close to the cage a sinister grin on his face
“Hey Marv!” He called his eyes not leaving him
“What?!” This Marv person yelled
“Call the boss would ya!”
“And why the f**k would I do that you know he hates being called more then once!”
“We’ve got a special one he wont mind just do it!”
“Fine fine you f*****g good for nothing…. Yes hello sir…. Yes I know Sir….. Dude what’s so special about this kid?”
The man sighed and took the phone walking back to the cage and pointing at him his grin widening
“Sorry to disturb you again sir but this is important…. Oh I think you’ll love this sir… We’ve got one with Heterochromia… Yes I’m sure sir….” He hummed and looked around pointing at someone and ordering them to grab him ripping him away from the older male wolf that had been holding him close
“Hold him still would ya the boss wants to see this.” The man chuckled and took a photo of him sending to the man on the other line before having him thrown back into the cage
“Oh yes sir very interesting isn’t it….” The man kept talking as he walked Marv following after him.
He whined and nuzzled up to the male that had been keeping him close his older brother from what he could tell
“Psst, psst oi brats!” a teen snapped at them getting their attention he didn’t look thrilled with what he saw
“s**t so he was right you do have Heterochromia….” The male mumbled
“I don’t get it, is that a bad thing or a good thing?” His brother asked his arms wrapped around him protectively
“For them bastards? It’s a great thing, for him? It’s not good.” He spoke his eyes grim
“Why?” His brother pushed
“…. He’s stronger then you and I combined…”
“What? He’s a pup….”
“That doesn’t matter to them, they’ll take him and train him to kill…”
“…. No”
“…. I’m sorry kid but that how it goes with wolves with Heterochromia…… I’m Koshi…. Koshi Ennoshita”
“Kei Fujimura…”
And just like that the older male went quite and minding his own business. He didn’t quite understand was something wrong with his eyes?
“Don’t worry Satoru…. I won’t let anything bad happen to you….” His brother mumbled holding him tight… He was a fool to have believed him.
They’d kept them together for a while before separating them, taking the older wolves away from them and leaving the younger ones together. They could hear cheering and booing from somewhere but couldn’t place where.
It was a fighting arena of course it was. They had wolves fight every Friday night, people coming into bet on who would win, that was what the cheering was.
He was the next to be taken form the group being locked in a cage on his own away from them all. It smelt like blood and rotten flesh he almost gaged at the stench.
“Now little one you’ll be our star starting today.” The man chuckled before locking the cage.
That’s where it all went to hell, he was made to shift into his wolf form he didn’t even know he could do that. They made him fight to stay alive, to rip his kin’s throats out to stay alive…. Made him face his brother… kill his family to stay alive….. That day is when he broke the day he ripped his own brothers throat out.
The look of acceptance when he was made to do it, the look of stay alive one last day…. That’s the day it all went black.
His time their moved in a blur, he would fight and kill then be put back to his cage, train and repeat right up until he was saved.
That day it was cold… It was always cold. The stone floor hard against his back as he stared at the ceiling of his cage, he could hear the truck pull up out side the new pups were here great more useless wolves to kill, he closed his eyes and shook his head, turning away from the front of his cage.
The others loved him he was the champion their leader yet he refused to speak to them. The wolf that had warned his brother about the fate he would have was still around his master hadn’t wanted him dead… he was speared and instead put in charge of serving food.
There was a bang and his ears twitched and he sat up looking over his shoulder and watched the iron doors that kept them hidden they were pushed open and men dressed in protective gear rushed inside guns aimed at the humans and the other wolves
He huffed and laid back down this wasn’t any of his concern they wouldn’t stop this… Expect they did the men that ran this arena were arrested and taken out side as the good guys started unlock the cages other people with white coats coming in and leading them all out promising a safe warm place for them
It had taken a while before all the cages had been unlocked, all but his of course they kept his cage further away just in case of an incident like this, they wouldn’t think to check here.
“U-Um sir you’ve forgotten one….”
He knew that voice, Koshi… who had they forgotten?
“I’m sorry?” The man asked confusion clear in his voice
“Uh…. I’ll um… I’ll show you.” He mumbled grabbing a torch and walking toward him
What was he doing? He pointed the torch toward him and his growled covering his eyes and curling into a ball this i***t did he not know what the heck was going to happen now!
“… My god….” The Human male mumbled before kneeling down
“Come on son I wont hurt you….”
Yeah right he’d heard that one before. He snarled at him and turned away.
“Sorry he’s… He doesn’t speak….” Koshi mumbled grabbing on to the bars of the cage
“He’s covered in scars…. How old is he?” The man asked looking to Koshi
“Oh uh…. Twelve.” He mumbled looking at the man then back to him
“Twelve huh… and the scars?”
“He’s the champion here.” Was all the explanation Koshi had given him.
It had taken a while to get him to come out but he did… After they promised to give him stake. He followed the man who later introduced himself to be Sosuke Kobayashi. He took both himself and Koshi to his home having a female wolf take them in and get them bathed and their wounds tended too.
Turned out this man had children of his own, a son his age and a girl who was two years older. After talking to them mostly Koshi they agreed to live here and become part of the family.
They were given collars and uniforms, given a job…
This was their home now…..
He managed to smile a little one night before going to sleep…. This was his home
