*Lillian* I glance at my reflection in the mirror. The yellow ribbon at the end of my braid looks incredibly childish, even though it was a gift from Blaise. I yank it from my hair and drop onto the bed, pulling the ribbon through my fingers, over and over. Blaise had gone to Wade’s as soon as he saw Chase and his family arrive in their buggy, leaving me to finish getting dressed on my own. I don’t want to embarrass him by looking like a little girl when we attend the play at the theater. Only, I have no idea how to make myself look grown up. I hear the soft knock on my door. “Come in.” Callie pokes her head around the door. “How’s it coming?” I hold up the ribbon. “I just need to figure out what to do with this ribbon. I don’t want to hurt Blaise’s feelings by not wearing it.” Callie
