Married for Money, Betrayed by Love Part One: The Deal That Changed Everything
Chapter One: The Contract Bride
Eliana Dumas sat on the cold marble steps of her family’s once-glorious mansion, fingers trembling as she reread the contract. The words blurred from the tears she refused to let fall.
“Marriage Agreement between Eliana Grace Dumas and Mr. Alexander Cruz Blackwell.”
It was as cold and emotionless as the man who wrote it.
“Sign it,” her father had barked earlier that morning. “This is the only way to save our legacy.”
Legacy. That was all she had ever been to her family — a pawn to protect the Dumas name. And now, at twenty-four, she was selling her soul to a billionaire whose heart was rumored to be made of steel.
Alexander Cruz Blackwell — CEO of Blackwell Enterprises, the youngest self-made billionaire, and known in elite circles as a man who never forgave, never forgot.
And now, Eliana would be his wife.
Chapter Two: The Vows
The wedding was over in fifteen minutes. No music, no flowers, no kisses. Just a signature, a photograph for the press, and a cold car ride to a penthouse she’d never seen before.
“I don’t expect you to play the doting wife,” Alex said, pouring himself a drink the moment they entered. “You’re here to look pretty, attend events, and keep your mouth shut.”
Eliana turned to him, fire in her eyes. “And in return, you pay off my father’s debts?”
“No,” he said coolly, “I own your family now." Let’s not pretend this is charity.”
She said nothing. Not because she agreed — but because fighting would only make her more vulnerable.
Chapter Three: Thorns Behind Roses
Weeks passed. The public saw a glamorous couple: lavish dinners, red carpet appearances, magazine covers.
But behind closed doors, their world was built on silence and tension.
Until one night.
“I know what you did to my father,” Eliana hissed, slamming a folder onto Alex’s desk.
Inside: proof that her father had been forced to sign over the company to Blackwell Enterprises after a stock manipulation scheme. Orchestrated — by Alex himself.
His eyes didn’t flicker. “He was corrupt. I did what I had to.”
“You destroyed my family!” she screamed. “And now you own me?”
His voice was low. Dangerous. “You signed the contract.”
Chapter Four: Escape Plan
Eliana began plotting her exit. She met secretly with a former lawyer of the Blackwell empire — a man with a grudge and files. She discovered more: illegal acquisitions, backroom deals, buried evidence. If she exposed Alex, he could lose everything.
But the deeper she dug, the more tangled she became.
Because what she didn’t know… was that someone else was watching.
Chapter Five: The Fire and the Rescue
It happened one night when Alex was out of town. A break-in.
Eliana woke up to smoke. The penthouse kitchen was engulfed in flames. She ran — coughing, barefoot — only to find the door locked. Someone had disabled the alarm system.
Trapped.
Suddenly, the door was kicked open. Alex.
He pulled her into his arms, jacket covering her as he dragged her through the smoke. Sirens screamed in the distance.
Later, in the hospital, Eliana looked at him through blurred vision.
“You… came back.”
He didn’t answer. But she saw the ash on his hands, the burn on his wrist.
He had saved her life.
Chapter Six: A Glimpse of the Real Him
Recovery was slow. For the first time, Alex stood by her side. Quietly. Reading to her. Bringing her tea. Not touching her, not asking anything of her.
One night, she asked him why he came back.
He stared into the dark.
“Because I’ve lost everything before," Eliana said. I won’t lose you either.”
And for a moment… she believed him.
Chapter Seven: The Secret Room
But Eliana wasn’t done looking. After returning to the penthouse, she found something hidden: a locked office behind a false wall. Inside, files. Photos. A safe.
One folder had her name.
She opened it.
Surveillance pictures. Notes. Dates.
He had been watching her for over a year before they met.
Emails between Alex and her father discussing the marriage. The betrayal. The plan.
Her stomach dropped. He didn’t marry her out of duty or chance.
It had always been a setup.
Chapter Eight: Betrayed by Love
When Alex came home that night, she was waiting — folder in hand, tears rolling silently.
“You knew me before I ever stepped into your life,” she whispered. “You planned this." You planned all of it.”
“I had to,” he said, his voice calm, almost regretful. At first it was business. Just leverage.”
She laughed — cold, hollow. “And now?”
He stepped closer. “Now… it’s different.”
“Too late,” she said, backing away. “You don’t get to break me and say it’s love.”
Chapter Nine: The Gun
Later that night, Alex received a message. One that turned everything upside down.
“If you want your wife alive, bring the Blackwell folder. Alone.”
The man who had once helped Eliana — the bitter ex-lawyer — had betrayed them both. He had used Eliana to find Alex’s hidden crimes, and now wanted to sell the information on the black market.
Alex raced to the warehouse outside the city. Inside, Eliana was tied to a chair, bruised but alive.
The ex-lawyer sneered. “She’s smarter than you thought. But she made the mistake of trusting me.”
Alex didn’t speak. He dropped the folder, kicked it over.
“Let her go.”
Instead, a gun went off.
Chapter Ten: Blood, Tears, and Promises
Eliana screamed. Alex dropped to his knees, blood soaking through his shirt.
The lawyer fled with the folder as sirens wailed in the distance.
Eliana crawled towards Alex, pressing her hands against the wound.
"You stupid, stubborn man,” she sobbed. “Why did you come?
His eyes fluttered open. Weak, but alive.
Because… I meant it. I don’t want to lose you.”
She wept over him as the lights flashed through the broken windows. Somewhere deep inside, she felt the shift.
She still hated him.
But she still loved him, too.
Chapter Eleven: To Be Continued...
Alex survived the surgery. The folder was gone. Their enemies were still out there.
But so were their secrets. Their pain. Their unfinished story.
Eliana stood at the hospital window, watching the rain fall over the city.
She was no longer just a bride bought for money.
She was something far more dangerous now.
A woman betrayed, but not broken.
And she wasn’t done yet.
