Chapter Nine

CITY.

Mariana opened her eyes slowly.she was shivering,she took in her surrounding and noticed she was still in the bath tub."oh!"she gasped."so I slept here ,oh my goodness,why am I so clumsy?"

She stepped out from the bathtub,dried her body with a towel and checked her watch.

"Oh my gosh!am late"she exclaimed.she dressed up immediately, packing her hair into a bun,she locked her apartment,boarded a taxi and Left for dynamic company.

When she arrived at the company,the workers were already busy doing their various jobs."geez,God help me,I can't believe am late,I heard the CEO is scary , someone should save me please"

As she was walking,she met Hector on the way."oh hello there ,how are you doing"he greeted."Am doing fine"she forced out a smile playing with her necklace at the same time.she always does it when she was nervous.

"Don't tell me you are just coming to work right now"

"Ummmm,ummm,I just had a bad day yesterday, can you believe that I slept in the bathtub"

"Hahahaha"Hector broke into a laughter."so that's it"

"Yeah, please don't tell on me,I heard the CEO is quite scary"she said making a scary face which made Hector to start laughing again.

"You are really funny, don't worry,my boss is in a meeting right now,you should go now,the shoot will begin soon"

"Ok, thanks so much"she replied and left.Hector was really amused,he had never met a human so funny.

"Hey, don't tell me you are going to snap pictures like this, just take a look at your face,so dull, didn't you sleep well last night"the lady in charge of the shooting said to Mariana.

"I really sorry,I just had a bad day yesterday"she replied.

"Like seriously,you are sorry,do you think we are here for child's play,you have been contracted to be the face of the new dynamic product,many people are really dying to be in your place,I must admit that you are beautiful but you should take care of yourself ,am not sure taking pictures of you is going to work out today,you look terrible right now."

"That's why I suggested a famous model,I don't know what Sir Hector sees in you"Collins chipped in rolling his eyes at her.

"I am really sorry"she apologized again."Go and wait outside,we will know what we will do about this"the lady said to her and she left.

Luke Cage has just finished the meeting and was walking to his office when his wolf became restless.it kept on whispering"mate".he could perceive her scent.

"f**k"he cursed."why is this woman so bent on making my life miserable,why is she everywhere,is she following me?I am going to teach her a lesson today.

He traced her scent to know where she was and finally he found her.she was in the women's restroom.Luke made up his mind to enter even though it was wrong to enter the women's restroom.As he came closer,he could hear the sound of sobs, someone was crying.it was definitely her.

"Why is this woman crying Everytime,why do I have to be mated with someone like her,I guess she is the punishment for the wrongs I have done"

He held the door knob and twisted it and the door opened.

Mariana didn't notice Luke's presence,she was blowing her nose and wiping her tears."why am I so unlucky,such a bad day for me,I haven't eaten since morning,I am sure I caught a cold now, poor me,my pathetic life, nothing is going well for me,I can't lose this contract,I seriously need it"she continued to sob.

"Hey,is crying one of your hobbies, don't you think you are making uncessary noise here."Luke spoke out loudly which made Mariana to jolt.

"Wait a minute,am I hearing things now"she continued to sob."I don't understand my life anymore,am beginning to hear things too,why am I hearing a man's voice now,I need help.

Luke couldn't take it anymore,this woman was seriously annoying."stupid"he remarked.

"I know am stupid"she replied drying her tears.as if she realized something,",wait a minute,I heard the voice again.

"Just quit it,will you"Luke spoke in anger.Mariana looked in the mirror and saw a man standing behind her."aaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!"she screamed jumping up and down.

"Who are you?"she started to punch Luke but Luke didn't move,the punch from her wasn't painful infact he was amused.

Mariana realized that he wasn't even flinching infact she was the one in pain,his body was hard as rock,she resulted to another plan.she remembered she had a knife in her bag.she brought out the knife and pointed it at Luke.

"Don't you ever try anything stupid,if you come closer,I won't hesitate to cut you into pieces."

Luke was not angry infact he was watching her with amusement,there was something special about this lady standing in front of her which he couldn't pinpoint.he really enjoyed looking at her.his wolf was happy but he didn't want to accept that feeling.

Luke took a step closer to her and she took a step "hey, better stay put, don't come closer"she warned pointing the knife at Luke.

Luke took a step towards her and she stepped back, Mariana was scared,she was alone in a restroom with a stranger.

With each step taken by Luke,she stepped back till her back was against the wall.Luke caged her with his arms so she wouldn't escape.Mariana was so scared,the knife she was holding dropped to the floor making a sound.

Luke lifted her head up so she could see him.as soon as they had body contact,Luke groaned."mate"his wolf whispered.he controlled himself, this woman was turning him into a crazy man,she was torturing him,he had never felt so helpless before.it was supposed to be the other way round,he was supposed to be the one torturing her.

Seeing that she felt nothing,he knew that the mate bond didn't apply to her."f**k"he cursed inwardly.

He stared into her Hazel eyes ,her eyes were so beautiful,it was the most beautiful gem he had ever seen,he felt lost in her eyes.

Her big Hazel eyes were staring back at him.This was the first time Mariana looked at the man closely.she must confess that the man was very handsome.she felt like she was standing in front of the God of beauty waiting for her judgement.

She had never seen a man so handsome,His sea blue eyes were so gorgeous,she felt like she was drowning in his eyes.Mariana found herself drooling over him."Gosh,this man is so sexy,am I dreaming,if this is a dream,I don't want to wake up"she murmured not knowing that Luke heard her clearly because of his hearing ability.

Luke was amused,she was so cute now."you sure you don't want to wake up"Luke said and Mariana was startled.she realized herself"you heard me,that's strange,you have a sharp hearing ability "she said but Luke didn't reply.he didn't want to engage in any conversation with her although his wolf was happy but he needed to be himself,he didn't need anybody to make him weak"oh am so stupid,am not supposed to be thinking about this kind of thing,I have a boyfriend"she thought.

Luke's cold and intimidating aura was back.he stared at her angrily.Mariana was surprised at the turn of event."what should I expect from a stranger"she thought to herself."what's up with this man,why is he staring at me like he wants to kill me,what trouble did I get myself into."

"Hey don't try anything stupid with me,if something happens to me ,you won't getaway with it,I promise you"she tried to threaten him but it wasn't working.

Luke grabbed her neck forcefully while fighting his wolf internally,his wolf was in pain that he was trying to hurt his mate.

Mariana winced in pain,",I think this is the end of me,who is going to take care of my sister when I am gone"she thought to herself as tears rolled down her cheeks.

Luke was in torture seeing her pain,he was going crazy but he didn't want to submit to a weak woman,he was a powerful Alpha,he increased the hold on her neck, Mariana coughed,her neck has already turned into red colour.her body was so soft and Luke knew that if he tightened his grip on her again,her neck will break.

Mariana was already feeling dizzy,she sneezed,tears were rolling down her cheeks."please don't kill me, Please,I don't want to die"she pleaded.

Luke was fighting his wolf,he didn't listen to her,his eyes was closed."please , what do you want from me, please don't kill me,i still need to visit my sister,am. the only one she has got, please"she pleaded,her strength leaving her.

"Why are you following me?"was the last word she heard from the man and a pair of golden eyes staring at her before she collapsed.
