After Golpo said its final words the barrier starts to reshape itself forming a passageway heading the wall. As Golpo instructed Sarah used water magic to tunnel their way out of the safe zone. Sarah constantly uses that spell until they reach the underground tunnel Golpo was talking about. The underground passageway started shaking but it remained intact as if it was fortified with earth magic
At the battlefield Behemoth and the kid finally reach the barrier with one fell swoop the barrier shatters. Then several balls of water hit the tunnel covering the path that Sarah made. Several students didn’t make it so they were forced to fight for their lives while the others were not so lucky and got covered with the debris. A small price to pay for the safety of others
“Everyone take a deep breath” Golpo shouted
“Colossal Tidal Wave” Golpo casted then a huge wave was released from its body pushing away everything oh its path
Demons were quickly wiped out upon contact because the wave is made of holy water the only demons remaining were the one’s airborne and the kid together with his battle beast Behemoth which is currently knocked down but manages to get up eventually. None of the students were harmed because the water just magically heals them
“Everyone stick beside me before the demons make their move” Golpo ordered
The remaining students quickly pick up their weapons and then rushed towards the center where Golpo is currently stationed
“Ah crap my gun is all wet, I can’t use this now” a marksman ranted
“There is no point in complaining now”
“We are all going to die here anyway” another student said with a regretful look on his face
“Die? I don't think so”
“As long as Golpo is here demons can’t reach us”
“Just hide inside its body” another student said as he enters Golpo’s body in a funny manner
“And walla! Instant anti demon armor” he said as he hops back out
“Look if we die here we might as well bring some of those demons along with us”
“If you start quivering in fear now everyone’s hard work would be pointless”
“Imagine if these demons still run wild and manage to track the refugees?”
“Disastrous right?” he added
Everyone started giggling and started smacking the crap out of him
“Everyone ready! The demons are about to make their move” Golpo warned
A while back inside the cave entrance. Mark is running out of mana so his attacks were getting slower each succeeding cast. The boulders are still constantly fired at him.
“I can’t die now!” he said to himself then shouts to release all the tension he is feeling right now
“God if you can hear me please listen to my prayer”
“Give me strength!” Mark intimately prayed
His heart starts to pound making his chest hurt. Each succeeding beat the pounding just keeps wording making him tougher to breath. Mark closes his eyes thinking this is only just due to lack of mana and fatigue so he prayed once again
“You can pray all you want but no one will answer those prayers” a mischievous voice said
Mark then quickly reopens his eyes and started shaking his head
“I am starting to hallucinate” Mark said to himself
“But you are not just hearing things”
“What the mortals believe about the concept that there is this so called God, then all of you are worship no one”
“No wonder your prayers aren’t heard. Miracles can be granted easily but if you are praying to someone who didn’t even exist, who will make miracles for you?”
“We have been watching your race for several decades now and it disgust us to see you worshiping someone else”
“Angels? Demons? They are all just lowly subordinates of the one true ruler”
“Just like the government of your society. They have supporters and also they have their opposers”
“Think of it, the angels are the one’s supporting the Almighty One and the demons are the ones opposing them. Mortals are foolish enough to make assumptions that demons were the ones seeking havoc but in reality demons and angels coexist with one another” the voices said
“You really make a very convincing story but how do I make sure that everything you’ve said were true”
“Right now the only one I can trust is myself. Demon or angel they are all shady” Mark said
“But if you continue to worship the wrong God, how will you receive true salvation?” the voice said
“Hehe I really don’t give a crap about the afterlife so hey”
“It’s not a big of a deal for me” Mark said in a very teasing manner
“You’re draining mana quick”
“By the looks of it five more boulders should do the trick and your soul will be forever lost in the void” the voice said
“If God is dead, who will grant true salvation?” Mark shouted
“Only the Father is dead, you still have the son and the spirit to revere” the voice said
“If one of them lend me strength now I will” Mark seems feisty
“So you only start believing when you are in the face of death”
“Seems to me, you are not a worshiper. Scum like you deserve to be thrown in the void” the voice said
“Maybe I really deserve a place in the void” Mark said then he loses grip on his blade
“If I manage to survive this I will definitely revere whoever have saved me” Mark said then his wind magic starts to fade making him plummet to the ground
Back at Eden, Golpo and students manage to keep Behemoth and the kid in check. Low class demons were easily wiped out because of the holy water all over the field. Everyone looks worn out, especially the kid who is currently breathing using his mouth. The exchange of fire continued until Behemoth stopped moving. Golpo had this relieved look on its face thinking the kid is short in mana. Several seconds later, Behemoth was unsummoned and the remaining demons all attacked at once. With another water destruction magic Golpo wiped out the demons no sweat but sad to say the demons were just a diversion as the kid made his escape. Everyone dropped to the ground and lay down for a while. They all have this delightful look on their faces
“I don’t want to disturb your resting time but the fight is not yet over”
“You still have to catch up with the others”
“Go find Jophiel and tell everything that happened here. Like tell him that Demon Lord Mammon has awaken together with its dreadful beast Behemoth”
“Also you’ve seen how they fought. Discuss with him the attack patterns and skills used by the kid earlier so all of you may prepare for another onslaught”
“Tell him that I can’t assist you right away. I can sense that my master has a lot of strain on her body because I have exhausted too much of her mana. So please inform him to utilize all defenses to the maximum capacity because I will require a lot of time to be resummoned again”
“Now go time is wasting. See you soon everyone” Golpo said then it slowly losses form
Everyone was about to evacuate then they heard a familiar voice shouting. Everyone felt alarmed thinking it might be a trap. They all geared up as they tracked where the voice was coming from and from a distance they saw Maximus with run down clothing. They stand their ground thinking he might be a demon in disguise.
“Stay back!” One of the students shouts as Maximus approaches them. The student all aim their weapons against Maximus forcing him to stop
“Hold your fire guys. It’s me Max!” Maximus tries to bargain
“And how can we identify if it's really you and not a demon in disguise?” A student suspiciously ask
Maximus then equips his sacred gear and everyone start lowering their weapons
“It is you!” A student said as she gives Maximus a tight hug
“Wait if you’re here, where’s Mark? Aren’t you two together?” She ask
“We were” Maximus said with a pissed expression on his face and he clenches his hand forming a fist
“But this kid then pops out of nowhere and started ambushing us”
“Mark tried stalling him so I may escape and seek help but I was too careless. I didn’t notice there was a trap so I walk right into it impaling me”
“I was losing consciousness back then if it weren't for Golpo’s healing wave I would be dead for sure. The only thing that was keeping me alive was the earth spell I used to fortify myself” Maximus said with regret
“So where is Mark?” another student ask
“I don’t know”
“After breaking free I head back to the spot where I last seen Mark and the c***k he was hovering over is already completely covered with boulders”
“I thought he was dead so I quickly remove all the boulders just to retrieve his body and give him a proper burial but it was nowhere to be found”
“There isn’t a trace of blood anywhere so I am sure that he is still alive” Maximus said with hope glistening in his eyes
